mushroom 13,199
What's going on with all the heart attacks You heard about dogs dribbling and shaking their teeth loose in the corner but never a dog that just keeled over I have experience with dogs that are frightened by loud bangs and IMO as sure as shit tastes bad, 95% of the time it's the owners fault for reinforcing the behaviour, the other 5% are shitcnut dogs that get scared at a bang. The type that really just can't stand it and fair enough. I've fixed this before now in my dogs, with a blank starter pistol. So my question is; I'm sure some of you have dogs that are scared of bangs. Why do you think it is?
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I have never had any problem with the dogs with fireworks whatsoever, they just never seem to be bothered about them These pampered pooches that hide under the couch , trembling to death need to be out more and better socialised, surely?
mushroom 13,199
Not entirely, some working dogs are gunshy too and there's the dogs who like I said, simply cannot stand it. Most it's because the owner will cuddle say soothing shit/react to the dog's state of mind and by proxy reinforce the behaviour.. I'm curious as to other people's opinions on this.
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I only keep kennelled dogs and genuinely never had a problem? I think you’re correct with the second bit though
mushroom 13,199
I had a terrier years ago that would shake, rattle and roll when fireworks started, same if startled by a shottie going off... give that twat his job ratting, rabbiting or anything else and he did not give a fuuck if it was a 12bore or Schwerer Gustav getting popped next to his head.... completely oblivious That was the exes dog before we met and I always blamed her for mollying him as a bain lol.. Tyla 3,179
Personally, I f***ing hate them. Pointless, noisy waste of money. All my dogs work with guns and love it but the old lurcher bitch hit 10 and started flapping about fireworks, no idea why and not encouraged. One of the other is 9 now and started wierding out this year for first time. We haveca livery yard and every year have deal with firework related damage or injuries. Not so bad when it was just one night but it lasts 2 f***ing weeks now!
forest of dean redneck 11,694
Kind of agree with tyla think it needs to be restricted to organised events not joe bloggs with a garden size of a stamp in the middle of an estate
mushroom 13,199
You lot would hate it here lol Google correfoc That's about once a month here. Parents slap a hoodie, helmet and goggles on 5 year olds and then throw them in the mix On San Juan, you'll have random people throwing fireworks at you during huge beach parties. Fuucking well dangerous but hell of a laugh.
Born Hunter 17,798
Not quite in line with the OP but the only problem I have with them is that it seems to last for a solid fortnight. Let em off on the fifth or the nearest Saturday and then again on new years eve, any other night just get f****d. I also don't get why they have to be bigger and louder every year. Jesus Christ, there has to come a point when even a tolerant dog will get rattled by them? I'd chip in to blow the commons up any night of the year though... 3
