I think that West Ham's problems might be at board level. Are the owners committed to the football club like the fans are or are they looking at it as a cash cow? They came along giving us the " one of your own " ....." raised on the manor "......" bleed claret and blue " caper......which as someone whos done ok in business myself didnt really wash but i could see the pitch was a good one and i for one backed them 100%.............the minute they mentioned the move i knew time was up. These are old men leaving heirlooms....one of them virtually told me as much !
Nicepix 5,650
I think that today is a difficult period for league football. It has become money obsessive. The FIFA are pushing the world Club Championship - more money generated but the local fans won't see much of the matches unless they too have deep pockets. And it will wreck the PL as we know it. There are people buying football clubs just for the money they generate and others are like kids buying a train set. The Cardiff owner is a classic example. First thing he wanted to do was change the 'Bluebirds' strip to his favourite colour - red! That didn't go down too well. The best examples seem to be Leicester and Bournemouth and the worst have got to be Southampton who have sold every decent player they have had on their books and failed to re-invest any of the proceeds.

Because apparently we were poor and could not keep the great players we produced or attract/afford anything better than end of career or 1st division players and journeymen managers brought in to “try” and keep us out of trouble. It should have meant putting an end to those excuses. I never wanted to be a “big” club, I wanted to be a club that did itself justice and didn’t just take the piss out of itself all the time. Ill ask you a question mate, do you think our footballing history from academy to World Cup only warrants being treated like f**k all in favour of being able to walk past Queens Market and have a bit of pie and mash ?.........don’t you think we should be trying to live up to that footballing pedigree ? There you go, football has changed massively. If you want the whole day out with your pals, 2 yards from the pitch, steak pie and a bovril and see a bit of gritty football then non league is the way to go......I go all the time when I’m over, I f***ing love it. If you want to see absolute top of the tree, top of the pay scale, expensive players in the best stadiums, 20yds from the pitch on an entertainment package day out then you go to a premier league game. That, as they say, is life......I watched Harry Redknapp in Life Stories the other night....he had a part time job at Tesco and Bobby Moore worked in a factory to make up their wages and they all sat in the cafe on a Saturday morning and used the salt and pepper to work out formations for the match........it’s lovely, we would all like to sit and have egg and chips and a mug of tea with a few players before the game but that ain’t reality any more mate. If that is the thing you crave in your football then your thing with your non league teams is going to make you feel much more at home mate.

I stopped worrying about going down the Hammers when they made it all seater......it completely ruined my football day out, people talk about the atmosphere at the new ground being shit, to me it diminished when they put in the seats. It was f***ing terrible compared to standing with your pals and thousands of others. After that it was the odd game when I felt like it and obviously when my boy came along I had to take him and from a dads point of view it’s nice when you have little kids.......and that is really what they want it to be. They don’t want a group of lads running out the queens at five to three, telling everyone to f**k off out the way in the their rush to get into ground for kick off and then the whole tribal thing of standing in a big crowd of your own hyped up to f**k........they don’t want that in top flight football at all. Old football lads don’t belong in the modern top flight game and grounds, I’d watch football anywhere from the park on Sunday to a premier league ground because I just like football but I accept what each thing is.
