Running a hare is different to shooting an elephant......a hare is a magnificent animal and slipping a dog on one for a fair 50/50 run on his home turf is a million miles away from sitting in the back of a jeep with a huge rifle to blast a hole in the side of massive, unmissable elephants head that is 100% against the elephant. 

The thing to remember in england is elephants don’t eat our crops, attack our family, destroy our fruit trees, run through water supplies etc......they are actually a massive pest to people trying to earn a living off the land no different to rabbits/hares/deer doing the same to our crops albeit on a much smaller scale.......if elephants were cutting round here being big destructive c**ts you could guarantee they would be kept under control by regular culling.......that culling could be sold to someone who wants to pay a lot of money to kill an elephant......that money can then be reinvested in the land and the meat used to feed hungry people......it’s just the way the cookie crumbles the world over

Had a white Zimbabwean working for me a few years back mate, he ran big game hunting before he left Zimbabwe, some unbelievable pics!!

He told me they would hunt maybe a dozen elephants a year these were pre selected, he knew exactly what they would shoot before the party even arrived, he said they maybe saw 50 or more elephants a day whilst searching for their target, these were illegal to shoot...so it is no different to culling deer on an estate, the animals chosen are selected to enhance the herd.

Same with all of the big game animals, it's very controlled, not just drive into the Bush and blast away!! Lol...

Still not my thing, been on a safari holiday once and it was an amazing experience for an animal lover, a dream since being a kid to be honest.... so shooting them just wouldn't sit right with me....but I wouldnt spout off to those who do, I've killed plenty of animals in my life, and understand how a controlled hunting program is beneficial...

Even on the permissions I have, one of them has been close to 15 years and it still provides me with a few runs and a bit of ferreting every year, small scale in comparison but if you dont kill everything the population can remain healthy...

Exactly mate..... literally the same as deer herd management over here just with an animal that doesn’t cause us any bother so people dont see it as anything other than a harmless friendly giant. 

This guy had to near enough stop himself killing Louis theroux as he hasn’t got a clue how Africa works.....but when he walks off and calms down he explains it all perfectly imo.....

i am trying to find the documentary called 'trophy'......i cant find just yet

it will give you an excellent vision of what actually goes on.

for example the lions tigers etc are all bred and its a canned hunt on fenced reserves.the big money is in selling breeding stock.

a nice male lion can goes for millions of dollars.

then each local village has 'tags or licenses' to shoot certain animals,now these will be wild ones,the village then sells

their licenses to rich americans.village get a cut of the cash and the meat from what ever beast.

There’s is a very good story about Africa to explain the mentality. 

A party of landowners and game rangers were hired to drug collar and track the males of I believe a Zambian pack of lions for a United States university. 

all was going well until one night where one of the shot lions took a run into a fast flowing river. 

Now lions are notoriously poor swimmers and the group searched frantically with spot lights until they found him , drugged , slipping into unconsciousness and struggling in deep water as the crocodiles moved in. 

One of the guides , without a second thought jumped and attempted to pull the Leo to shallower waters , he was unsuccessful and was eventually forced to attempt the kiss of life to blow oxygen into the beasts lungs to keep it afloat . 

Just think about that

a lion , drugged and drowning in crocodile infested waters at night , and the guide did that. 

Sadly he was forced to give best in the end and watch the lion slip away. 

An amazing tale that I think demonstrates the respect between the African hunters and their quarry

Do I remember you once saying you love Africa stiff?? Ive always wanted to go and explore round there but haven’t yet.....where would you recommend over there??

I could genuinely see myself in Africa, for a younger man there are opportunities to live the way you could only dream here ,

It isn’t a place where evetthung is easy , I looked at a Kenya posting and may yet still get the chance , it will mean the kids are boarded though as you can’t just let them wonder around in downtown isiola , but even with that , there is a soul to the place that seeps into you. 

I always enjoy going there , and better is when you see someone for the first time experiencing it. The size of the skies and the rolling empty nothings shows people how little we are in the scheme of things
