Guest SJM
get up and go and see to the dog? as in reinforce the bad behaviour by rewarding it with the very thing your dog wants, your presence? I would be more inclined to get up, shout out the window, if it doesnt shut up give it a few volts with the e collar, that should make it think twice about doing it in future, its the only thing that really nips it in the bud, trust me I have tried going out, hitting them, throwing water all that nonsense, what you really need is instant punishment which the dog doesnt actually associate as coming directly from you A lot of people dont agree with them but if its a choice between get rid of a promising dog because of the noise or give it a couple of mild shocks I know which I would choose

Pups after all like to play, try giving some stimulating "toys" (and no, I dont mean a fluffy wuffy stuffed bunny) The pup is probably ready to start having its training stepped up a gear, any stimulated, well exercised dog will sleep and relax when it has the chance!! Not rocket science!!
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Mad; I got a letter from my bro', only yesterday. Seems one of his own, older, Dogs has started that caper. 'Seperation Anxiety' trip, as the white coat told him. He got himself one of those citronella collars. Seems to reckon it works. Now, granted, I've read as much good about them as I have rubbishings. But it just strikes me that incrementally should be the path to take, most especially with younger Dogs. Slap the kennel, not the Dog. Know what I mean? Anyway, I've just never had such a problem myself. Probably because I've always kept my Dogs safely indoors with me and I guess they just get into 'The Households' way of going about things? Nor have I ever handled any of the new gadgets. Only external training aid I've ever used is a lead. But there ye go. Another thing to consider.
Hunt On 0
At 10 months old your dog will have a lot of energy that needs to be burnt up. so take your dog for a very long walk. and really make him tired. if he is under control and you have a field or whatever that you allowed to be in then walk your dog and get him running, it is also great time for training and it will make the dog work physically and mentally. do this until the dog has completly calmed down and is tired then, when it goes to bed it will be tired and will sleep well. make sure that you take the dog out at quite late and feed him when you get back. then when you leave him to sleep then he will be so tired he should sleep till a bit later. but if he continues to moan then walk him in the morning as well so he gets two long walks then he will be shatterd by the next morn. young dogs need a hell of alot of exercise so make him work. let us know how you get on. luke p.s i hope this makes sence. Scallywag 78
Get up at 6.45 before she kicks off? You're not rewarding anything then I'm not experienced at these things as my dogs live in the house, but is it safe to kennel her with your lurchers? I know some people have lost good terriers when a fight has kicked off leaving the terrier dead and the lurcher/s injured.
