My busher keeps the lurcher on its toes, every walk turns into a hunt. Long bike rides a couple of times a week and as soon as the fields come down around my house, the thrower comes out and they both are retrieve crazy. Like a bit of retrieving down at the lake too. Though nothing gets em as fit as real graft, i've got mine at a decent level to make a start. As for grub, just Lidl complete with either chicken carcasses (always got a freezer full), mackrel (whole) tinned sardines and loads of fresh eggs from my neighbour AND kitchen scraps. I've always fed kitchen scraps and always will. I make sure that what is given will enhance their diet and not be detrimental... My Sunday roast chicken carcass stripping is legendary, a Bombay Shitehawk would leave more on than me..! nickdonboy 264
Lots of biking and hikes. The big dog loves to swim. My two bitches are naturally a lot fitter than my dog however they lag behind when it doesn't suit them. My big dog's drive is ace, he's always right next to me putting in 100% graft even though his blood runs hot. Ignorant salukis only put effort in if it benefits them... 6 Quote Link to post

They dont plod and wait to strike. They're mother and daughter. Sire was full saluki. I dont use the feathered bitch for lamping, she hunts up too much and isnt as sharp as other two. She has bags and bags of stamina and is great to watch on a big field during the day! Edited September 8, 2019 by nickdonboy Spelling 2 Quote Link to post

I know it's supposed to be a no no and I rarely do but our dogs growing up got anything, including the chicken carcass from the family roast, if we could afford one, sometimes it was just mince. They always seemed to thrive on whatever they got. Dogs must have survived on cooked bones since they were domesticated surely? I did give mine a fair bit of venison bone left over from a camp fire cook up recently and he did have a couple of very hard stools so moderation may be the key? Expand same here ...all my dogs 20-30 years ago were fed on boiled up rabbits.....even today we usualy have roast chicken on a sunday....so they get the left over carcass 1 Quote Link to post

Its still in AT's kennel, 4 years later and few give em as much graft, so that speaks volumes. Thornton's spitting distance from my house, so if it comes off that would be great... Quote Link to post
