Hunting up on the lamp

Recommended Posts

It’s about creating or not creating a state of mind

ferreting by the very act of standing still makes a rabbit appear or so it seems, makes a pup a very quick learner of what to do with its body , it creates a focussed state of mind/body

on the flip side,  if a pup believes that running round the field like  a headless f***ing chicken make bunnies appear , that too is exactly what it will do with its body, no dog worth his salt,  needs to do showing how to hunt

don't overthink things you will go mad, just go and lamp him let him fk up, the penny will drop and you be fine.

always walk mine at night take a light, from a few months old, point torch/lamp at the floor and switch on and off get them to return to my feet.....never used a slip with my old bitch.....young bitch

It's not about him merely losing visuals though is it, you can guarantee he's following the scent once he's lost sight. I doubt it will be so easy to fix.

Morning, taken a step back from quad bikes and hounds - Don’t need the grief anymore. Having moved house my country has changed, curious of those that do hunt the hills with their lurches and a terrier at your heel, how do you bring them on? Getting the right dog for the job is no brainier but what about the training? Thanks.

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect
