First time snorkelling and it was f***ing awesome. Just practicing everything and having a bit of fun. Jelly fish got me apparently. Lol. I'm off to Brisbane in November and want to swim with dolphins etc. Next summer I want to properly spear fish with a view to some more foreign adventures. Just gaining experience and confidence in the short term. £80 is good enough to start with mate. If you want a speargun go online and read some of the forums mate about which is best for what you want. As for the suit.. I guess you'll be better off going into a shop and trying them on... not the easiest option I know Edited August 12, 2019 by mushroom
Born Hunter 17,798
So just to clarify, the wetsuit shouldn’t stand-off of your lower back / lumbar slightly? It should be tight?
THE STIFFMEISTER 16,136
Not sure what you want it for born as I haven’t read it all however I often f**k around I. The sea still near me and I’ve done a fair amount of sea swimming . I wear a 2XU wetsuit. It was 120 from a sale at www.wiggle.co.uk personally and if I remember rightly , your a mobile active sort , Id fight shy of the board wear type stuff. Im no expert but I can’t imagine it being much cop submerged and splashing around for an extended period of time. I may be wrong I’d be looking at comfort something that will fit you easily and more importantly be easy to maintain afterwards . The old adage of buy cheap, buy twice is relevant here. Vaseline your ankles and wrists line with a tri suit and crack on

Eventually i want to dive for lobsters etc and spearfish but ill maybe look at a specialist suit for that, as and when. Ill almost certainly not be swimming in it. Cheers for the suggestion. THE STIFFMEISTER 16,136
I know the lads at work who dive almost 100% wear a woolly bear under their suits in the North Sea shallow water as well

I'm trying to buy a summer suit and have no great experience of them. I've got sort of funny measurements and I'm struggling to get a tight waist fitting. The small of my back has a air pocket. It's a gul flexor I'm trying, are gul known for suiting fat people (I'm not fat)? What brand should I be looking at? Cheers The last thing you want to be doing is swimming with an air pocket in the small of your back, get yourself to the doctors or A&E if it came on suddenly.......

I wore one once, to see what it was like and nope, not for me. Water deeper than 3m is gonna get cold. To see this effect swim over a trench. There's loads here along the Barcelona coast. They're for the run off, off the mountains when it rains. About 4-5m deep near shore, the sides are about 1-2m... as you pass over you freeze you bollocks off Edited August 12, 2019 by mushroom

I think a summer suit will be fine and then get a thicker proper spearo suit in the future. Other more exotic destinations I should be alright with just a rash guard. You'll want a decent thickish wetsuit for this country.

I was looking at 3mm just for summer season use. I figure if I take it up seriously then that's when I'm likely to need a 5-7mm suit.

jiggy 3,209
Silicon breast implant in your back. You could even stick a nipple on it.
