Would the heart not return to normal size if you stopped the gear? Anytime mate...more often than not its Left Ventricular Hypertrophy or Atrial Enlargement just where the walls thicken due to volume overload....the problem is that it has to work harder and obviously high bp......surprisingly there hasnt been too many studies done but they say around 20% of athletes 5 years after retirement will still have an enlarged heart...ace inhibitors or angio receptor blockers are very effective in treatment but yes the majority of the time the heart will return to normal size. But Francie dont be caught into thinking its purely steroids that cause this.....any fully committed athlete is going to have some consequences of the extremes they push their body to.....any endurance athlete regardless of steroids will likely have an enlarged heart, just the same as footballers or rugby players are often left with joint problems, boxers are often left with brain issues etc.....any sport done to the extreme will have consequences compared to sedentary people. 2

The post mortem showed his heart to be twice it’s natural size, and the age of a man over 50 A 21 year old juicing as heavy as he was is just ridiculous....yet its juice that gets the bad rap...alcohol and smoking kill far more people than steroids do....obesity destroys human beings but eggs & bacon doesnt get a bad rap.....anything consumed to extremes is harmful. People stereotype steroids based on very little information, they tend to take the small details that make sense to them and repeat them as fact without knowing if its actually true.....like Max with his lactic acid theories, bless him...every athlete has a different lactate threshold its nothing to do with build or muscle size ....some people just have far greater lactate tolerance than others, its not actually the lactate that causes the pain its the hydrogen iron ( the acid ) that poisons the muscle preventing it from contracting, and the dose athletes can withstand varies some can have a lactate of 10 and not even be able to stand/puking up etc whereas others can have a lactate of 21/22 and still be able to perform relatively comfortably their body is just far more efficient at shuttling the lactic acid out of the cell and back to the liver where it gets turned back into glucose. Steroids actually make some sports safer...and if not for using them the sport probably wouldnt even be possible.....when the bodies power output is being pushed to peaks of 5 and 6 watts per kilogram you are talking about serious workload and stress on the body to such points where an athlete starts to become osteopenic, their bone density changes, the sheer pain and discomfort just isnt tolerable without chemical assistance. So as much of a bad rap as steroids get much of modern sport simply wouldnt be possible without them....and society has a hard job getting their heads round that. Greyman 28,441
FairPlay gnash your knowledge on all this is very commendable and something that’s obviously taken a lifetime of being in and around the gym, but for the average joe, roids just represent there local 6ft 5 pimply necked, skinny leggged bullying drug dealer who is just happy to fire everything and anything into themselves to look more intimidating usually in conjunction with a couple of lines of sniff to help the attitude along, the line between use and abuse is pretty invisible to the average man in the street
