Bedlington whippets it’s all a case of pay your money take your chances and enjoy the dog for what it is I personally think a lot of people over charge for them these days I see a hell of a lot of over bred smooth coated  bedlington whippets offered for sale at a premium I noticed people just keep adding whippet all the time every time they breed them it don’t make no sense to me ironing out the base blood like that as what’s the point in adding base blood if you take it away ??‍♂️If I was in to the breeding of them I’d breed f1 put back to a whippet then back to half cross an I’d keep to that routine of breeding dive in an out of racey 1/4 bedlington to half cross always breeding rough to rough coat never add to much whippet or you may as well just buy a whippet

its ok breading like that for type, but when breading for work you often have to forget looks and percentages.

Might as well just get a whippet ??‍♂️A bedlington whippet should always be type bred An work bred at the same time in my eyes or your breeding out what your trying to achieve in the first place by adding bedlington blood to begin with

I think he means choosing type after work. they would have to be proven workers first and foremost.

Definitely that fred that’s exactly what I meant mate

you should of said that mate if that's what you ment, because appearance dose not matter in working dogs, as long as they are physically perfect ability comes first, in my mind anyway.

I should of made it a bit clearer what I was getting at but would of thought being a working/hunting forum it would of been obvious tbh

But would you breee off a smooth whippets type a beddy whippet over a rough coated one of the smooth whippety one was better worker?

Only type i want is one that busts a gut doing what ever j tell it ?

Yes definitely would. but if it was a three quarter would put it to a half cross.

Even if another bitch that was say 3/8ths or even 1/4 beddy was better than the half cross but smooth coated?

What if it got to to point that the 2 best you had access to where smooth? Would you breed to a lesser rough to keep the type tho?

no as we said earlier type will come second to work.
