Greyman 29,682
All dogs need mental and physical stimulation, work can be simulated through decent use of dummy,s and toys, just don’t by one and expect it to be happy with a shit in the park twice a day,

Stoney100 1,179
A cocker will be nothing like a long dog, a long dog will be happy with a hour a day exercise but a cocker will still be getting warmed up lol weigh up what you can offer the dog more than what it can offer you 3
Netmaker 911
I have a lab she is first and for most a pet but she is worked also on a regular bases as said don't think a walk in the park twice a day will do 1

Born Hunter 17,832
A long dog tends to just sleep most the time between blasts out on walks. A cocker around the house will be your shadow, it’s frankly annoying. But if you have a strict home life with it then an hour exercise a day is fine imo. Just because they can work all day doesn’t mean they need it.
MH1 1,892
I find a session with the flirt pole/tug is good for sorting mine out if he still needs to burn energy off
downsouth 7,717
Cockers can make great pets if they get a decent walk twice a day with a bit of training and a few dummies chucked about for them.A lot of cockers ive seen in working homes spend days at a time banged up in kennels and only go out on working days.

shovel leaner 7,650
I’ve had working bred cockers and springers in the past and to be honest they do your nut in around the house . I always kept mine in the house / kitchen as pups to socialise them and house train them ( they stay clean in the kennels then ) . But I like a dog that is more relaxed when it’s in the house . Cockers , at least the ones I’ve owned want to be in your pocket , by that I mean they are constantly following you around , and when you look at them they are there “staring at you “ . It’s like having a really needy bird , great for a bit ..... then you want to dump them !!! 1

DIDO.1 22,851
It's not just a case of working or show. You can also look at the different working lines. Some are more steady while others are on whizz
