the majority of first cross wheaton/greyhounds i have seen have been fawn in colour....so is the fawn gene stronger or is the colour of the greyhound used a major factor aswell ?

dont knw if this link will shed any light on the subject.if i remember right from school!!! black is the dominant colour gene/brown is recessive, there is more than luck of the draw involved.im no expert

Got one here thats fawn, all of the litter were fawn and so were both parents.

 

The sire was a 3/8 5/8 and the mother was a first cross.

 

The majority I have seen are fawn, but to be honest Lucky yours was the first other colour I have actually seen, although I have heard of different colours, some of them were not true Wheaten crosses, they had a bit of bull in them.

Mine was from a Wheaten dog to a black coursing greyhound bitch.The whole litter were the same colour and markings as the bitch,black with a white star on the chest and some have white socks.

ive had a few first crosses over the years and all were fawn but a friend of mine bred a fawn wheaton dog to a black greyhound with 4 white socks ,seven pups were born,6 fawn pups and 1 blue pup. dont know he come about but there he was in a litter of straight halfs.ive never seen it after that though.

fawn,fawn and white,black,black and white,brindle. the more greyhound in the dog you can other colours... only seen 1st x's to be fawn....

fawn mate,put a dear/grey/bull dam black all over to a wheaton grey sire fawn ended up with 4 bitches 3 fawn 1 black and a chocolate dog.

he was...but i think brummys is still the stronger of the two .
