Stabs 3
They're Spanish Greyhounds aren't they? Come in smooth and broken coated versions. http://www.thebreedsofdogs.com/GALGO_ESPANOL.htm Quote Link to post
Lennard 10
Recommended as hare dogs IF you get a good one. Saluki like, LONG feet, selective hearing, sweet pets. The arabs brought salukis into Spain and the Celts had their greyhound type so its maybe a mix. Good ones are very sound, they don't damage or don't get sick. Spain is harsh on dogs, only the good ones stay alive more or less. Coursing is pretty popular and there are a lot of these around. Rescue centers are full of them. L Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,127
I HAVE THEM ON DVD COURSING IN SPAIN , LIKE EVRYONE SAID THEY SEEM TO HAVE MORE STAMINAR THAN OUR GREYHOUNDS. EVRY BODY SEEMS TO THINK THEY ARE SMALL , BUT ON THE FILM THEY LOOK ABOUT 25" WITH A LIGHTER BUILD AT THE BEGINING OF THE FILM THEY ARE ALL LINED UP AND 1 OF THEM LOOKS LIKE A MERLE. THERE IS ALSO A TAME HARE RUNNING ON A COUNTER IN A GUN SHOP, WHILST A GUY TALKS TO THE CAMERA. Quote Link to post
chillitt 0
thanks for that, chaps. trick would be finding one that hasnt been worked to death , i spose... Quote Link to post
Guest mush
Don't they kill ( hang them) them after a season because they start running clever. They do have a lot more stamina than greyhounds, they don't start to judge them until a minute after the course starts. Quote Link to post
jjbull 38
thought they killed them cos they cant earn there keep when the season is over the puictures ive seen they either hang the dogs or tie them up and leave them to starve Quote Link to post

The galgo is a good dog, a lot more inteligent than the greyhound too. The ones that come to england are the rescue ones and dont know of another rescue that home dog's to working homes  . The rescues get a lot of help in spain and the dog's get imported all over the world. Wish i had that amount of help for our dog's. Quote Link to post
