FF Expand Your right FF there are two adjustable pots that can be tweaked, But if he's only getting 3' then I recon the resisting horse shoe inside the on / off dept switch is is fractured mate. If you take the small screw out of the centre of the on/off switch, remove the wheel. Then remove the circuit board, now under where the wheel is a orange or white plastic washer carefully remove that, you should now see a copper y shaped brush running on what looks like carbon. Have a look with a magnifying glass see if you can see a hair line crack in the carbon. If you can't you could try cleaning the carbon very carefully with a cotton bud and a small amount of mentholated spirt. If you go to the calibrating thread I posted how to remove and replace switch.
