Arry 23,445
Another good haul plenty of "Field Mushrooms" about and "Chanterelles" but best of all some "Ceps". "Ceps" are already in the dehydrator. A Warning though found my first "Yellow Stainer" thought it was a button "Horse Mushroom". Yellow Stainer. Cheers Arry
Arry 23,445
Had another cracking day I was over the moon with 12 Ceps 2 Horse Mushrooms a few Field mushrooms, Chanterelles and on top of that a Prince Mushroom and some Oyster Mushrooms. The Prince. Oyster Mushrooms. Bearing in mind my main target today was these Cep's in the fairly long grass. I thought what the feck is this at first. Yea it is a dogs ball but just for a minute I did wonder what I was looking at. Cheers Arry

Any idea what these are: probably "The Common Yellow Brittlegill" it is edible. But please don't go out and eat it until you are sure mate. Looks good ground for "Hedgehog Mushrooms" there. If it cuts white it's probably "The Common Puffball" but I'm no expert, so please check it out before eating. Cheers Arry

The one you have to watch out with Field Mushrooms and Horse Mushroom is one called the Yellow Stainer. It smells of Indian ink and if you scratch the rim of the cap and the very base of the stalk the Yellow Stainer will go bright chrome yellow. I've put this link up many times, but I want every body to stay safe. It's a good site and very easy to use. It will cover Blewits ( Blue Legs ). https://www.wildfooduk.com/mushroom-guide/ Cheers Arry

Cheers Arry Thanks Arry, I came across a load of those hedgehog ones last year. I'll keep an eye out. What do you use them for, what dishes do you add them too? There wouldn't be a great tradition of using mushrooms in Ireland apart from the field mushrooms and they were either fried or boiled in milk.
