jonghorn1986 0
I am looking at putting a new scope on my .270 Winchester Model 70. I currently have a Simmons WhiteTail that was on there when the gun was handed down to me. I was thinking perhaps a Leupold Vx2. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. What do you want to do with your new scope? Hunt deer in the bush or shoot tiny groups in paper at extremely long range or something else? The vx 2 3x9 would be a perfect fit. not too big or heavy. I assume a hunting rifle so nothing too heavy would be on the top of my list. I prefer luep 6x for hunting. I found few reliable sources about rifle scopes through the internet, do the research on them. https://scopesreviews.com/best-scope-for-270-winchester/ https://www.outdoorsbest.com/best-rifle-scope-reviews/ Edited July 6, 2019 by Vincej
Meece 1,957
Well blow me down. Hallelujah. Some sense at last. 6x mag on a 270. Good choice. Leupold is a good quality scope. Unless people have looked through world class glass they don't know what they don't know. But go for fixed mag. Better glass and no adjustments to meddle about with

I use 6x on almost all my scopes (guns) and have no issue with that out to 3-4-500 yards. I may crank it up to 8-10-12 when I go 600yards +++++, whatever you want. I like simple Mill dot scopes as well, but thats me, many think I'm bonkers, but I tend to hit what I aim at consistantly!

Baldcoot 2,352
Me personally as a recreational stalker have a 3-9x50 VX1 on a P/H .243 and it works and although its adjustable stays on 6x mag as its my prefered setting .My previous was a S N B 8x56 but it was too much for woodland where lets face it 50 to 75 mtrs is the norm. The other rifle 308 bsa cf 2 has a Redfield accuranger 3-9x42 on for woodland again and is rated out to 800m but i dont go anywhere that long in fact 130m is it atb
