A true fighter enjoys getting into the ring and thrives off the challenge of facing an opponent, by the sounds of it Jeremy Kyle will be doing a Christmas special, called AJ my life being bullied in the ring. gaz 284
"Hype" Theres not another sport on the planet that is plagued with as much as this than there is with boxing esp the heavyweight division, see theres only a few fighters that comes along esp nowadays that can sell the tickets and pay per view's without the hype that is spun around so many fights and fighters these days to make the big money that so many want there cut of in modern day boxing,Joshua is a perfect example of this being a fighter with a few attributes to get the juices flowing but on the whole he has been hyped up to be somewhere close to being the real deal but sadly he is and never going to be anywhere near that standard,he looks the part with that immense physique and power he can put average joe fighters away with but like anything that has been hyped up is mostly a short fix thing that through time will usually if not always get found out. shaaark 10,721
I'm going to agree totally with max on this now, eddie hearn is a c**t! Joshua DID get knocked out sparring eight days before the fight, and he DID have concussion going into the fight. Fight should definitely have been called off. Mick c, gnasher, how long is the time period now, from when a boxer gets k o'd before he can fight again, think it's about 3 months?

But anybody can see Fury not a great heavyweight , ok he can move about good agility for a big man, far more than Aj or wilder, but he lacks very important tool as heavyweight power to knock um out, so i just carnt see all this thing about heavyweight boxer you and Max think Fury his ? all 3 of them are piss poor Fury,Wilder ,Aj , as i said i hope Aj can learn and improve from this fight , but got me doubts , but anything can happen in a fight , its on the day that counts what your like in mind and body . deff We will agree to disagree then, I've never said Fury was a great but I've always said he would beat Joshua as I never bought into all the media/marketing hype surrounding him created by Matchroom that elevated him into this UK based World Champion.Fury stays light on his feet and never sets his hips when he fights which allows him greater mobility and the ability to hit on the move and switch hit at will but at the expense of him having any great power to his shots. I have never said that Fury is nothing more than an accumulative fighter but still he has a stoppage rate of 68%. Now Fury is a clever boxer, not fan friendly mind il admit that but he has the will to win and without a doubt the best recovery abilitys in the division after taking a big shot/being knocked down which was evident for all to see in the Wilder fight. Fury was not at 100% for the Wilder fight due to lack of fitness, big weight loss and he was not fully focussed and match ready. When Fury fought Wilder he never once switch hit or sat down on his shots and gave his height away far too often and then clowning around which cost him the two knockdowns. After the Schwartz fight hopefully it will be the rematch with Wilder and then we will see how a fully fit Fury performs. As for Joshua I take no joy in his loss and like I've mentioned I do feel for him but I am gloating at Hearn and his predicament now. Joshua has been massively hyped and over rated due to the power of Matchroom and it's marketing and media power which elevated him to a level that he himself was clearly aware that his actual ability would never match this hype and popularity and tbh if I dare say it he looked relieved after his loss to Ruiz now all the pressure is off him and all the hype has came crashing down. Joshua also had a huge income from sponsors and endorsements that all had obligations contributing to the pressure he was under and not allowing him to fully focus on his actual boxing career.Hopefully Joshua can come back and fight again but I'm not so sure,if he does not fancy it and walks away then good luck what ever he does and he is a very wealthy young man at the end of the day so if he walks away I can respect that. Do you think it will be the same result ?and how do think a rematch with Fury and wilder will go ? Wilder said he will come in same weight that he just fought at with his 1st rounf KO , that 11 lb heavier when he fought Fury ,he said he stronger and hit harder . Don't know if this all hype lol

Don't know if this all hype lol Its early days yet and I know Hearn has triggered the rematch clause and the rematch is contractualy agreed but this will still have to be negotiated and agreed to by the Sanctioning bodies so that leaves room for Haymon to step in and try and get the best deal for Ruiz or it may mean not all the belts on the line.Hard one to call tbh no way does Joshua out work or out fight Ruiz hes simply not capable of doing it imo. If Hearn gets his way and the rematch is in UK then it suits Joshua a lot better but I still think he would need to stop Ruiz to beat him, If Haymon gets his way and the rematch is away from the UK it could be a repeat of the first fight. Ruiz despite his looks is all wrong for Joshua and he knew this and he had the belief that he could beat Joshua before the first fight so will fancy the rematch even more.As for Fury v Wilder we need to see how Fury looks against Shwarz and see if he is any sharper/fitter and punching with a bit more authority than he was against Wilder in the first fight.Wilders team brung him in light for the first Fury fight so they could deal with Furys movement better so they will have a keen eye on the Shwarz fight also. If Fury looks sharper and fitter they may come in light again but if Fury just performs like the first fight they might gamble and bring Wilder in heavy and have Wilder go for Fury from the off. Im not even sure Wilder will rematch Fury now, it all depends if Haymon can do anything with the Joshua/Ruiz rematch clause. Ruiz and Wilder are both under Haymon and both American so he would love them to fight for the Undisputed title so if he got his way I could see him pushing Fury out the way .Unfortunately Ray its back to a waiting game again to see what happens next . stealthy1 3,964
The only thing wrong with AJ was ring rust, 9 months out of the ring? Big difference between hard sparring and getting in the ring to defend a title. AJ needs to get over his self, forget making Grime records and swanning about and get fighting. Anyone who didn't see this coming when AJ cancelled his last stadium fight to go abroad lives in a dream world, how can you hold 3 titles and have nobody to fight? Where are the mandatory title defences?

Isn't that what it's all about when ya chance comes to go for it? or did they avoid him for a reason ? politics or bull both the same I suppose

Mick c, gnasher, how long is the time period now, from when a boxer gets k o'd before he can fight again, think it's about 3 months? It used to be 28 days but it changed to 28 - 45 at the discretion of a bbboc medical officer....but thats only in a competetive fight....its essentially to protect journeymen fighters. Personally i dont buy this concussion or panic attack stuff he would of had a doctor in his dressing room the whole time he wouldnt even of been allowed to put his gloves on if the doc thought there was anything up,its what he,s there for.....he is the same doctor you see checking the fighter in the ring after a fight. I just think Joshua has become too big for his boots, too casual...call it what you like.....his whole demeanour on his walk out and in the ring up until he got chinned was of an over confident fighter who thought he could swing at a guy without worrying about what came back.....jabbing from his hip, flat footed, non existant defence.....the lad is a physical freak of speed and power and should be using those attributes to go and set about opponents.....i remember after Nigel Benn took his first loss and went to America to try and improve his boxing skills he still never lost the aggressive qualities that made him what he was....his trainer Jimmy Tibbs encouraged him to use what he used to call " street savvy " in the ring.....to take it to an opponent at the right times.....Nigel skipped from trainer to trainer for a while but he never lost a fight under Jimmy Tibbs and ive always believed that was why. A lottery winner always says " it will never change me ".....and true to form it has with Joshua.. all those top 3 guys have their own brand and persona Furys is the soft hearted giant selling sob stories and giving his purse to charity etc....Wilders is the cold blooded killer who speaks the evil truth.....while Joshua has been forced to be this outlaw to champ story, the epitome of competitive sport and childs role model paraded around society as the " you can do it too " image commercialised to death....he didnt ask for that society demanded it.....i feel a bit sorry for the lad i think the pressure just became too much for him.

They dont give out Olympic golds and world titles Sid you have to keep it realistic....is he good compared to Ali/Frazier/Louis etc no.....is he good enough to be around the top of todays crop yes of course he is he,s proved that.....i dont rate any of todays heavyweights compared to other eras but i also dont think any of them can dominate. if Joshua,Wilder,Fury,Ruiz even Dillian Whyte all fought each other 10 times each they would probably all come out about even infact id still fancy Joshua to beat Fury more times than he would lose to him as Fury is made for his style Fury doesnt take a great shot and cant punch his weight i could see him taking a sustained beating if Joshua tracked him down but if he came out all apprehensive like he did the other night Fury would probably beat him,i fancy Whyte to out hustle Wilder as well but not if he gave him the room he gave Joshua. They are all much of a muchness and will win and lose to each other.....if they fight that is ! Edited June 5, 2019 by gnasher16
