Gtanner 1
Hi all. I'm looking at buying a new manual rifle press. Going to be doing a lot of reloading so want something that can do quite a number although dont really have the cash atm for a full progressive press. Thinking of going for a turret press as I believe they're a good half-way? any recommendations? Quote Link to post
Meece 1,957
Ultimately They all do exactly the same thing. It isn't as if this one is good and that is bad. I've got bits from every manufacturer. A Simplex press, some RCBS dies, Lyman case prep bits, Hornady dies, Lee dies. RCBS powder measure. Reading scales, all sorts. Bits I've made myself like a powder trickler. As long as you uñderstand what you are doing a d where you are going its all good. Something that I do consider essential is a chrono of some type because its like driving a car without a Speedo you can't tell what your ammo is doing. Shop around for the stuff you buy. Sometimes there is second hand available and most of it is like brand new. People buy stuff and just don't use it. 1 Quote Link to post

Meece 1,957
Apart from a chrono to check the speed of the ammo, a very important thing is a reloading manual which will give the information about case preparation, priming, powders and how to adjust the dies so that the bullet can be seated correctly. Also things such as bullet selection, overall length so that the bullet is in a correct position in relation to the lands and good neck tension. If these things aren't adjusted correctly the ammunition probably won't be accurate and consistent. Edited May 22, 2019 by Meece Quote Link to post
