Im sorry but the country is in a state! Make me Prime Minister!!!! All hunting bans lifted, no importation of food stuffs, immigrants and none british to go home! Anything else?? Oh yeh stop building houses on countryside (happened at both my last adresses). Could rant about this all day im afraid.

Im only 18 (19 next month) im dreading this country when ive got grand kids. I bet they wont be able to shoot anything, have a gun, go fishing, not even course fishing (catch and release) they wont be able to own a 'bull breed', staffys will probably be outlawed due to bad press and british people will be the MINORITY in BRITAIN!!!

Its insane.

Gaz

None british? will that include premiership managers, surgeons, chefs and some royalty?

Well i think eeryone knows what i was getting at, polish and illegal immigrants namely, who are taking our houses hence more being built on what should be countryside. But if your being picky then they could all go home for me mate! Premiership managers? If your talking football, then i couldnt care less! Surgeons, fair play they are good but we have got our own, chefs? we can cook our own rabbit ;) and as for royalty? Again not really a topic im 'up on' but not realy one that i have got much time for either.

The small drawbacks you have listed above is nothing to the benefits that would arise if the country returned to how it was when our grandparents were growing up!

You're quite right, Ireland punches well above its weight in the EU in terms of subsidies and favour. Our farmers get a better crack of the whip than yours.

Why? because our government did everything it could to get as good a deal from the very get-go. We had our most able people in europe, people like Ray McSharry and Albert Reynolds who wrung every penny they could from the various prjects and schemes down through the years.

I well remember the UK papers slagging Ireland off for begging and deal making, and all the while, UK farmers were being sold down the river, even before Labour were elected, UK agriculture was being left dangle.

Now we have Mandleson representing the EU, and he's selling us all down the river. At best he's a detached in-effectual hand wringer, at worst he's a devisive puppet of the US.

But at least our Dept. of Agriculture (yes, we still have one of those) is on the same side as the agricultural community, something "DEFRA" (how Labour loves acronyms) most obviously is not.

Not to be Circle of love Macnas your right, the Uk government what ever its Labour or Tory are intent in one thing and thats they no best,Nearly all our Cabinet have no real experience of work, they are both led by a belief that they no they are rightunfortunately for UK citizens they dont. They are elected representatives and are hell bent in sticking there nose in to our day to day life. This current government has brought more laws in than any that has been before into every microcosm of our life.An example of this was the denial of the Uk to decide on the EU change of Constitution.

I have a small business specialising in Inspection of Gas supplies aand pipework. We have the safest industry in the world yet we face more and more legislation .The Cost of employing training and paperwork of this is now increasing to such a rate that I wont be employing more staff.Vans fuel insurance both for motors and Public and Employers Liability is crippling compared to the hourly rate my staff are paid.Every industry is facing the same costs and in a recent meeting 12 of my rivals all stated the same.

I have decided this for coming year Ill wind down the business sell the house and move .Dont know where may be N Ireland or the Republic or elsewhere in the EU like the others of hundreds of thousands of proffesionals who left the UK last year.

Regards Steve

When you feel you have to leave your country to get away from your government, things must be bad.

Yes it is and it will go only one way.I served me country like thousand of others I love my way of life but as I get older I get more cynical,.Every part of my life is being encroached upon, whether it be an ever increasing population,Speed cameras hunting ,shooting ,tail docking.,fuel duty global warming.A death by a thousand cuts.Stay and fight you reply Stallion what for and more important who?A government country who expects are soldiers to die in far away lands who dont even supply the correct kit.A government who expects farmers to pack it all in so they can build on the land.A government whose major prioirty is the great unwashed and tax the rest of us to support them. And finally a government who never admits its wrong ..I dont think so mate .

Very good post k9wpg, My wife has just read it and thinks I have "ghost written" for you,we think along the same lines obviously.

I have regrets at not getting out sooner,I fear I am too old to make a move now. Some on this thread are a bit critical of the royals.

Personally,I think we on here have much in common with the royals (apart from the money and the estates),certainly they would understand our outlook and sporting interests better than the twats in parliament ever will.

I completely agree k9 with your observations mate, but the point i'm making is wouldn't it be better to stay and help get rid off this desspot regime than to be forced to leave your own country. WE ARE BOTH ON THE SAME SIDE MATE!

Yes we are mate but one thing I was taught was to know when to fight and know when to run.The battle was lost many years and I hear your words but the dies been cast. Ive seen friends spill blood for this green and pleasant land .for what cause I dont know now.You couldnt make it up whats happened here in the last twenty years,.. a country that once could feed itself clothed itself and exported its resources to the rest of the world is now reliant on the rest of the world. You think these countries will be so helpful to us when there own beef cereal crops fail,we will be held hostage by a simple economic law Supply and Demand. The same criteria Defra are using now as to justify imports.

So ill be selfish Ill do want I think best for me and my family somewhere my qualifications and experience will be welcomed and rewarded and somewhere where ill be proud to call home.

Since posting this thread last night, I added a few replies to post. I've come back to it today and read the thread through and seen some of the posts/replies added during today.

I have to say that I agree with everything that has been said, im many ways.

I too have faught for this country, in other countries and on behalf of this country. I too feel sick (literally as Iread these posts) at what has happened to this once fantastic, honourable and proud nation and the people that made it so.

If you strip life back 20 years, look at the life that is lived by real rural or country folk today, its not that unsimilar; but then compare that with the world in which the rest of this sad suburban, disposable society lives in, surely the cr*P they are expousing about how they "want" to live, how they think we should all live; with better morals, respect, cleaner living, less shamefull and less wastefull.........is that not the life rural comunities live in anway??

A huge part of me wants to throw it all in, go :censored: off and start afresh in a new place where I'm free to live a life of dreams and respect, where I can live and grow old, where I'm valued and not dictated to or down trodden, whhere action has consequenses (the govt get away with murder and we get hemmered for the smallest thing)..........but part of me is proud of who I am, of what I have done, of who I have done it for and this place we all love and call home. Not the UK of the political world, but the real ground we walk on and work and live on, I love this place.............

................but the people that run "this place" have and are stripping away at my inner core, that proud feeling, the feeling of worth, my self respect and esteem is being erroded and chipped away, and not for any reason other than political capital goal of those "at the top"......they are slowly (and on purpose) killing what I believe in and love, my values and what makes me, and I'm scared there is no way back.

Damn, i wanted to say all this, but i think you may have said it better. :clapper::clapper::clapper:

I think group solidarity ended when Thatcherism came into force, and we have now come to regret how we have allowed our country to be ruined by greed, selfishness and materialism.

No one is prepared to stand up for what they believe in, no one wants to get involved in disputes that they dont think concern them directly, and they only realise their mistakes when it's too late.

I think it might well be too late to change things in this country, we are now on second even third generation social compliance. To try and change the publics thinking now, is nigh on impossible.

I am proud to be British, but not necessarily proud of Britain.

I'm not so sure I'm even proud to be british any more..........

I don't have delusions that we sould be what we once were, the Victorian Britan of old, the world leaders in industry, engineering, the rulers of the wave.........but the country I grew up in (and I'm only 30) was a much better, safer, respected place.......
