kelpieferreter 34
Hi, just after some advice. How can I get movement into my pattern when crow decoying? I have a couple pigeon bouncers, will these work with crow decoys or are they smarter than that and spot them as imitations? Haven’t had trouble in the past but the crows aren’t taking any notice and flying right past my pattern on to the next field which is exactly the same as the one I was shooting over. They aren’t even coming in and spooking so I know they aren’t seeing me or the hide. Thanks Quote Link to post
David.evans 5,323
Movement is the key get your self a ff5 flapper they do work I have used bouncers to no avail and not put the flapper out but then when it's set up it does pull them in how many decoys are you putting out ? Its a struggle this time of year any way there in the mainly on the twigs i was out the weekend and normally do 25/45 but only managed 17 and spread the decoys well apart Atb Quote Link to post
philpot 4,998
I love crow shooting and get plenty in during the next couple of months. The things that have worked for me are that I only ever now use flocked deeks as they work !!!! Set your hide up a couple of days at least before you shoot Ensure you have at least one deek on a spring stand, better using a flocked shell deek for this. Use a QUALITY crow call and learn how to use it. Be prepared to use an old green nylon fishing brolly with camo net draped over. Leave about 18'' between the brolly and the top of the hide. This limits your gun swing on high birds but believe me it can relax the birds so much that they drop right in. I leave the hide in place for 10 days to two weeks depending on activity and always leave a couple of days between shooting. Enforcer decoys are due to release a crow deek so if they are as good as the pigeon deeks I will be getting some. Enforcer are going to do a bouncer in the crow and again the pigeon bouncers are fantastic so perhaps the crow will be as well. Phil Quote Link to post
kelpieferreter 34
I’m probably putting between 15-20 flocked decoys out on the sprung pegs. But on newly turned ground they don’t stand out that well. I shall look into the enforcer decoys thanks. Have ordered a couple of bouncers off a1. See if they make a difference thanks for the advice. 1 Quote Link to post
