If I had 12 malnourished kids,and my mate in the same shanty town had 12 kids who were fat as butter because he poached a rhino horn a year ago and life has been on the up for him ever since,and some Chinese guy rocked up with a rusty AK-47 and the offer of $500 if I brought him a rhino horn I am going to slide on my flip-flops and head out for the bush,its just a modern 3'rd world version of impoverished middle-ages british serfs taking one of king johns deer,hard times beget hard measures.

If he was killing an animal to feed his family ie the meat then fare enough, but he's not he is after Ivory to feed the Chinese desire for trinkets and false medicine.

Through the hunt he is feeding his family though mate,one news story says he is after rhino so yes,either Yemeni or Chinese driven market.

Maybe if all the fekin aid we give them got to those who realy need it then they would probably not have to poach rare animals in the first place.

we all know full well its the people at the top of the tree that are ultimately responsible .....there not the ones on the ground doing the killing.....its going to be the very poor who need the cash.....

and no it wont stop the poaching just cos one poacher got killed by an animal.....I think that's quite rare to be honest...

God, Africa would turn into a shithole if the aid actually got to the African! LOL

The population of Africa is exploding! Set to double in 30 years with no sign of halting. And that's with all the disease, famine, war, crime and nasties eating them. If the aid got there and actually made life better for them then the entire continent would be a concrete jungle within hours! LOL

 

 

I'm not about to revel in this 'poachers' demise because the situation on the ground is a fair bit more complicated than 'we' tend to believe. But at the same time I don't much give a f**k either. It's just Africa I suppose....

Maybe not but do you think that really factors into the thinking of a man from such a piss poor society? African or European? I mean it was only a few hundred years ago piss poor Brits extirpated wolves, bear, lynx and boar.

Conservation seems to be exclusive to modern educated peoples. Even hunter gatherers like palaeolithic man so often portrayed as 'in touch with the natural world' are likely to have been responsible for the extinction of many species not able to adapt as our species migrated to new lands.
