Cobby first cross Wheaton but he loves foxes. I remember the first Coleman lights. They were blue metal boxes and hummed when charging and stunk of battery acid. Burnt holes in many a mans shirt. How we never got skin cancer surprises me. Thez time yet thanoz lol Quote Link to post

fred90 3,234
out of curiosity as I don't lamp these days. what's the best lamps nowadays and how do they compare with the old ones? Quote Link to post
terryd 8,427
I think the batteries are where it has improved with the old lithiums. Don't recall when sealed lead acid batteries came out may have been back then and I just couldn't afford one. I can't remember the details to be honest but have vague memory of my blue eye million candle power I think even though it had a good range I don't it had any glare at all. Or maybe I just didn't have to worry about it so much back then because every small holding wasn't owned by some anti. Just old farmers who for the most part were too tired or couldn't give a hoot at some one catching a few rabbits. Was the odd exception mind lol Quote Link to post

stormyboy 1,352
You can reduce side glare on strikers etc by sticking a circle of old school blue windscreen tint in the centre of the glass. Same effect as the blue eye. Edited April 11, 2019 by stormyboy Quote Link to post
