Working out/lifting weights.....will all help your test levels anyway regardless of test boosters. Vit D promotes pituitary gland function which is often another cause of low test, low sex drive e

Its good to keep healthy only here once so may as well make it a long as possible or at least try.
Used to be cardio mad and could run for miles but hitting fifty this year so 3 or 4 years ago switched to weights. I read some where as you age you lose muscle fast and I never had any to start so got pumping 3 times a week. I train at home because I have the right mind set to stick at stuff.
Gave me self a sports hernia about a year ago which is a drag. Not sure if I can be arsed with the op so just put up with it

I dont think theres anything wrong with obsessing over your health and fitness....to say its some sort of mental disorder is just being silly....however i have noticed over the generations massive changes in gym culture and todays is by far the worst, hence i got out of the game....training for a purpose i think is to be admired be it sport, health or just the feeling of being the best you can physically be,we dont say people have a mental disorder for developing their brain to its maximum so why their body ?....but there is definately a strange twist since all this social media came out, there are so many lads ( not all youngsters i might add ) trying to gain knowledge, improve routines etc for the mere purpose of putting themself out there on social media !...i dont understand that logic but again....im getting old ?

Fair enough.

Have a look at this gnasher.i often watch ted talks.

And asked on here if anyone else watch's them.

A good few watch them on here.

And I forget who mentioned this 1.

But it is very interesting and with you being interested in sports etc.

It will be right up your street so to speak.

Strychnine + brandy is a performance enhancer. (A once off thing for a very important race, because the dog/man will never run right again after)..Jesse Owens smoked 60 fags a day as well ,which makes him twice as impressive.

The irony....a topic that started on testosterone replacement ends on testosterone replacement ?

Nice though mate, I,ve no real interest in the gym, dieting or exercise but I, m always keen to learn and have picked up a few good points from this thread especially regarding my hydration, so thanks to your self for a very informative thread, thanks to king for starting it and thanks to the normal thread wreckers for staying quiet  ????

days off ...realy just means no gym.....you cant not go to work...mo the lawn or any other stuff you have to do....

theres loads of different workout scheduals you can follow.....every other day.........or mon tues train...wed off...thur..fri train...sat sun off...or some folk proberbly a bit more advanced might do train 3 days in a row...have a day off then 3 days train...day off and carry on like that...

the thing is....its got to fit round you and your family...and you got to enjoy it...or you will just pack in....if you can get in there for an hour 3-4 times a week ....stick with that....and as gnash said earlier eat well train well and sleep well..

Another daft question. But what is rest? On the days I don’t go to gym I usually working, but feel as tho there is summat else I could be doing? So should I try an fit in something else or should I literally stick to 3 days a week( an what about doing 2 days in a row an then having 2 or 3 days off if I have 2 days off them a couple busy days after?)

been getting a few diff answers so far an don’t wanna over do it, but equally wanna keep it up ?

Don't do two days in a row mate, at least for the first six months. Rest as much as you can when not working. Splitting your routine, so you can train two days in a row, especially in the beginning, will invariably get you overtrained. Working the hours you do, I'd only train twice a week, that's plenty.

Don't be tempted to do more mate, just train hard, but not too hard in the first few weeks, then rest as much as you can, while still fulfilling your work obligations etc. Train, eat,  rest/sleep ?

And do whole body routines, it's the best way, and the most productive for most normal people that aint killing themselves with steroids/drugs ?

The stronger and fitter you become the harder it is to over train but at the stage you are now its easy to over train and if you do you wont grow,simple....you wont see results and you,ll think this is a waste of time and pack up....ive seen it a hundred times mate....just be patient,i say again at this stage less is more....for muscle growth to occur you have to have done enough damage to a muscle for it to warrant rebuilding bigger and stronger to accommodate the extra workload....and this growth in the muscle will not take place while you are continually stressing it.....if you do squats tonight and tomorrow you think you could do them again then your not training hard enough.....once you get to the intermediate level around 6 months in go onto a split routine and train body parts no more than once in a 48 hour period but for now just lift heavy, eat often and rest properly.....rest just means dont stress the muscles with progressive resistance it doesnt mean you cant mow the lawn ?
