On the shoot that i pick up on we have a couple who together work 6 of them. they are fantastic hunters, they tend to distance more than a labrador or a spaniel, they are fantastic in the picking up line on a shoot they really do work well. but from the ones i have seen they arn't really much good in the beating line as they do tend to distance while hunting. overall as long as the work goes into them, they are cracking dogs

cracking dogs mate,i can highly recomend them,i had one and will put a few pics up for you ,i had the runt of the litter and used him when pigeon shooting in the hide and also for working any cover, alongside me when ferreting, also retreiving ducks of water,he done alot more with me and seen fox in the day time a good few times and also caught them in the cover, only drawback to my dog was he was a fighter with other dogs, other wise was a great dog,one plus with was so easy to teach what to do and willing to please, will find a few pics and put them up

A cracking elegant breed! (A touch dizzy at times) Extremely slow maturing but challenging to train...

I have four year old bitch. She has done approx. 40 days picking up this season along with countless wildfowling flights and days pigeon shooting. When she's good she's untouchable...when she's bad, forget about it! Should be putting her back in pup spring time this year to a cracking working dog. They are good fun but you need A LOT of patience with them. The more you put in, the more you get out of a flattie.

Nicely put Gamebirdmeg, you have about summed up the Flatcoat there. I see your bitch is 4 years old, so about halfway to maturity then?

As I said in a previous post, you need a good sense of humour with a Flattie. Enjoy the times they get it all right, and don't be embarrassed when they go off on one.

Like hen's teeth I know, but I am looking for a Liver Flatcoat bitch up to about 15 months old, that is not wanted for Flatcoat reasons. People who know flatcoats, will know what I mean. I'm told there are some good ones in Norfolk.

The best dog I ever had was a flatcoat that had been dumped in a kennel with her mother(due to marriage breakup) and needed some attention(don't they all) and responded very well to human contact.

Willing to travel and pay good price for a good healthy(hips) bitch.
