I'm looking to get a runner to go with my jack russell for when I'm out. I've never had a lurcher before (although i worked with my friends for a few years). What do you reckon is the best cross in your opinion? It would only be used for ferreting. I've got 3 kids, but by all accounts they seem to be spot on family dogs. Cheers, Sam Expand Do your homework and source a lurcher to lurcher bred ferreting type lurcher that as the ability to step up a level if needed. The mutt will be in your family for a decade or more so don,t rush into an hasty mistake. You want a rabbit dog and that type will give you and your family more sport and enjoyment than many others.Source something thats a bit of an Heinz bred lurcherwith a few generations of hunting and sociability behind it,id steer well clear of bull and saluki infused lurchers and would,nt want much more than a tad of whippet in the mix.Again do your homework and the chances are that the right type of lurcher will come from the right type of kennel and the price,if there is one, will reflect that fact. 2 Quote Link to post

Nothing wrong with bedlingron x whippets, but I would prefer slightly longer in the leg..
