Attaboy 159
I'm very lucky to have a lot of rabbits on my permission and I've been catching decent numbers, but as the season progresses, it's getting harder. Rabbits scattering as soon as the lamp is on. Any tips on how to approach this?Thermal is too expensive and I can't put filters on my lamp. Would a small led torch or headlamp be useful for picking out the eyes to find them and then switch to the lamp for running them? Quote Link to post
D Lloyd 2,790
Lots of things you can try putting your self on the burry to cut the off from making it home easy. Put red clear sticky plastic over your LP this is cheap and easy to cut peal off the back and stick on Quote Link to post

The driving rain may have been a factor as well, literally soaked to the skin. Think the beam on my lamp may be too wide, scaring them in the next field. Just learning! Quote Link to post

Saltmoon 2,208
I agree with d lloyd if you know the land well enough try and sneak in with no light get yourself roughly where you think they will try and run to then flick the lamp on like he said makes it harder for them to get home. Also have you tried shaking the lamp as they get close to the burry this sometimes dazzles them and confuse them and they will sometimes decide to run along the hedge giving your dog a chance to turn it back out into the field Quote Link to post
