I feed them whole fur the lot pre frozen, as it is thawing out I slice like swissroll and allow to completely thaw before feeding.

I see no reason to cook or skin them?

Often mine will really 'go to town' on the skin and fur alone so they obviously get something from it. I think it helps slow the passage and therefore enabling better absorption.

does anyone know if feeding rabbit is bad or good as they are free and i have more than i need for the pot. would the age of the dog matter as i have an adult and a puppy.

I feed all my lurchers from puppyhood onward with whole boiled rabbits (bones and alll) and have never had any problems and have been doing this for years.

During the season my dog/dogs are fed almost exclusively on rabbit,I skin them and put them in the freezer for 3 weeks[it takes 21 days to kill all the parasites].They are taken out to defrost then fed raw.

Cooking can make the bones brittle is time consumingand there's no benefit,so for me it's raw all the time.

I have seen, not my own, dogs die of unskined rabbits folks, becarfull, as the skin gets cought in the gut and twists.

A freind lost a great dog, due to not skining the rabbits when feeding them.

Also, boiling rabbits with the bones, makes the bones very sharp and brittle, could cause the dog to Choke!!

I skin mine take the heads off for the ferrets ,gut them ,and leave them in the freezer for 3 weeks to kill off ,the worms and cysts, giving them the guts is asking for worming problems ,imo.
