And to the lad who stopped taking his meds be careful and listen to your body re indigestion ' not feeling well all of a sudden 'being sick ' sore throatpains in arms ' neck ' back ' legs ecr Dont matter how far your walking ' even if your not over weight. High Colestarol is a killer And you can go from feeling fit as a fiddle to not been here within hours . Max, can I clear up a couple of points ? I was put on statins, even though my cholesterol was only 4.2 a few days after my attack ! A couple of years later, my pharmacist told me they were part of a standard package of medications, which I was taking even though I clearly didn't need them. He measured my cholesterol at 4.3 ! All I got from them was the side effects - muscle cramps, fatigue etc - but no benefits ! I also had beta blockers for high blood pressure. I've never had high blood pressure, and still don't to this day ! It was slightly elevated when I was in Resus, but I don't find that entirely surprising ! I spoke to my GP, and made it clear to him that I didn't want to take medications for the rest of my life, and he helped me to achieve that........starting with the unnecessary statins. I wouldn't suggest for a minute that anyone take sit upon themselves to stop taking any prescribed medication ! My condition was brought on by a family history - which I can't change - and smoking, which I did change. I was told (by a professor of cardiology) that if I could get through 5 years without incident that the risk of future attacks falls dramatically with each additional year - I'm into my 11th year now...........
