cheap lamp

Recommended Posts

I think i know the sort you mean. I have got a 1 million candle power one i used to take fishing, with the battery built in and im fairly certain they are not powerful enough for lamping. I am by no means an expert though. If im correct then the purpose built 'lamping' lamps have an external battery pack dont they?

its one bought in a hunting shop. paid 25 euro for it no you need three 3v btteries for it. 4 filters. good spot and 30 bulb. its not a flood light or anything like that.

By the sounds of it,,It wont be powerful enough and even if it was you wouldn't get much out of the batterys

I got a 2 mill candle light one from B & Q..............................£16.....not worth a wank.... :feck:

if you gonna buy....invest in a quality lamp taht will be durable nd not let you down.....nowt worse than being stranded in the dark........when your lamp fails

My first lamp was one of these,,,the problem with them is the battery doesnt last long and its built into the lamp itself so ya arm starts to ache after a while,,,All I did was take the lamp apart remove the battery,,make a hole in the bottom of the lamp casing so you can run some longer power cables from the lamps original battery connectors down and connect to a higher powered battery....make em long enough so you can sit the battery in your pocket,,,,Your not gonna get the same quality as the proper hunting lamps but it does the job and doesnt cost an arm and a leg

I am with Bowers1986. The cheap ass lamps do work but they are uncomfortable and modifying them with a bigger battery in a backpack works nicely. Upgrade to 12 volt is good, there are more batteries for 12 V. Advantage of the cheap ass lamps is that you can drop them if need be and you will not loose 100 quid or so.

i spent £140 on my lamp and its shit the connections are shite the belt battery pack is all taped up but the actual lamp itself is great the beam is spot on and i think once ive sorted the connectors out it will be the bees knees but the lamp questions seem to crop up a lot on this forum makes me wonder what sort of feild testing these lamps get before they hit general sale im sure if a company aimed there product design more towards the hunter rather than general sale they would see that many of the componants used on these lamps are sub standard to heavy every day hunting use suppose the problem is they dont want to pigeon hole there products just to hunting and require a broader public intrest which would obviously sell more lamps.

I had a £15 1million power candle power lamp from homebase and lamped with that for nearly 6 months and it was fine for staying out for an hour and having a few runs, it was plenty powerful enough and had the battery built in to it, best sort to start with i think.

This x-mas good old santa claus brought me a proper lamping kit and its great, but i still think the cheap one from homebase was well worth the money and a great lamp to start with until you are sure you want to spend lots of money on a proper kit.
