All bred from outcross with some question of pedigree but tagged Minshaw by Andy.

Joe, that challenge in the shooting news, what year was that?

here you go madfox....this bitch has some "Minshaw " in her shes a great grand daughter of blue....that's me she caught 63 that night ...just me and her.....3 days later I was out with her again Darcy

heres 1 more for ya...not the best pic....im on the left with the same bitch.....the young fella on the right is holding Don...he has the same sire as mine...a "minshaw " called jack...the dam to don

The Minshaw name tag is just that a tag used by peddlers, not a type or breed. Every lurcher in my kennels for the last few generations has had the blood of Bess a half x bitch running threw thei

It’s a shame the other thread went west really as there was a lot of time went into it not just the dogs but the stories n although the dogs won’t suit everyone it made enthralling reading probably those pics n stories never to be seen again now.

It was early to mid 80s I think, bit before my time I was a young teenager.

Only asking as I told stiffmeister that I was on my second lurcher when the challenge was advertised. If it was 86 or after, I was on my third by then. Memory aint so good these days, not that it makes a difference really lol

first I heard of a minshaw I was working at the pit and one of the pigeon men showed me a clip in a pigeon racing paper. pretty sure it was minshaw and blue issuing a challenge saw it later in shooting news. this would be about 84 or 85.

Yes Andy sure does like his ego tickled, his dummy is spat out soon as he thinks he isn't getting the attention he deserves or someone challenges him about the cartoons playing out in his head.

it was good then some good write ups. just hearing some of the at stud names brings back memories. will hay, Carl Williams bow. George Kelly, ginger French, names from the past who advertised in there. it was a great time to be a young chap into dogs, ferrets and many more things ?

I never found him to be like that personally joe just passionate about those dogs n the times spent with them n don’t remember him ever saying they were all world beaters etc just a good thread about good pics n stories of times spent with those dogs back in the day n not saying some of the stories weren’t true as I’m sure they were but they was real entertaining as well as being a right good laugh can’t see the harm.

He done himself no favours on here dodger that's for sure.

I never could never understand why he used to exaggerate the numbers when he had no need to!

I can only speak as I find n he never did me any harm he’s also not always had it easy in life but craics on with it n puts a lot of time into his dogs n always been ok with me so I guess it’s fair to say I have abit of genuine respect for the man but can only speak for myself he’s not a member on here anymore tho so il not mention much more about him.

Abit about the dogs tbf what the minshaw dogs were well known for was not really my thing but they did what there owners wanted which was to put as many bodies on the deck as possible were as I prefer quality over quantity but when I went up it was to experience n respect there way of doing things but they also didn’t mind me running single was good times n memories and did see minshaw types or strain working single, what I liked about them is the big workload they could take on and be able to do it a good few times a week and as for the original thread as said like them or loathe them either way is fine but it was certainly entertaining at the Time n think most of the forum was gripped by it n don’t think there’s much to compare since.

I remember the challenge coming out and am sure it was around early 80's. I can remember at the time, discussing with other dog men whether the numbers were real or not. Living in Lincolnshire at the time those numbers of rabbits weren't available locally but you live and learn eh? I was more into daytime hares at that time myself.

The original thread is still here  https://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/247987-minshaw/ but with a lot of the photos gone it isn't quite the same I think. Still worth a read though.

Lincolnshire was a great place in the 80's was some good numbers, not on a par with what they were doing. but it was good. been recently and it's no where near what it was.
