ryaldinhio 4,519
When I was fishing in France a few years back in an March the heavens opened and the rain was bouncing down 5x heavier than anything I have seen in UK. Then swallows started falling from the sky, I mean in tens or twenties and bouncing off the bivvy, bite alarms going off when they hit rods, so surreal. The wind pushed to next corner in the lake and there were just hundreds and hundreds of dead swallows floating. A cockney fella in next peg reckoned they would've been near exhaustion on way back to UK and the heavy rain was the straw that broke the donkeys back n all that.
jiggy 3,209
Seen a badger and fox in full battle with fur flying at entrance of an earth in early spring. The badger was blocking the entrance but the fox wasn't quitting and was hell bent on getting by. I presume the fox had cubs in there because she wasn't leaving the bigger foe but badger wanted to take over. I often wondered would a badger eat young fox cubs. She absolutely shit it - I've never seen anyone swim so fast I went fishing for Huss one night, picked a nice little platform between Brixham and Dartmouth. It was getting twilight, casted both rods out and settled down lit a fag (smoked then) poured a cup of tea. Just take in the view etc, when all of a sudden a bloody great seal launched it self out of the water and landed at my feet, christ I nearly shit myself. I don't know who was most scared me or him, he turned and jumped back in. Cheers Arry 1
cragman 2,769
I watched a female cuckoo lay her egg last summer in a meadow pipits nest. It took her around 4 hours to find and then lay her egg. I stood watching in the blazing sun all that time, binoculars fixed on her 9

Mr Wilkes 2,984
Years ago I walked across a marsh and heard a horrible screeching cry so stopped to pinpoint it , i eventually found a shrew attacking a frog , it was the frog making the noise , the shrew had him by the back leg and was dragging him into the grass. I witnessed it twice more On same peace of land but never since.
