Shortstraw 476
Been a while since I posted a few pics.........springer bitch x lurcher sire, about five years old now. I only mooch around with my dogs these days.... so it’s a case of one for the pot every now and again, but mainly a nice eventful walk. Sandy one in last pic is bed/whippet x collie/ greyhound/whippet. Her hunting instinct is strong and she’s busy when out.....flying all over the place. She’s clever and slowly approaches certain areas trying to sneak up on things, stalking etc. Had a few things in their seat, in fact she’s caught all things. She’s fast to say she’s less than half sight hound, not much between her and the other lurcher, other can turn tighter and hold her self better over a long chase. She’s a natural scavenger, which I have to watch because she’ll eat owt. If I stop for a cuppa she’s happy to sit and wait rather than keep hunting. She’s not in the thick cover trying to bolt stuff like some may expect, my old jack Russell used to do that...she’s not cover shy though. I need to brush up on her retrieving though.....” my fault really “, her retrieving is usually ok to say she’s not retrieving loads all the time, but the other day she’s stood twenty yards from me plucking her pheasant....totally pulling the deaf ears on me.......I think I was berry red in the face....steam out of ears etc. I would some her up as a very strong hunting lurcher/ one for the pot dog, would lamp ok, but there would be better suited dogs, would make a good ferreting dog, but there would be better. Her strength is in day time mooching, hunting up...that she excels at......cracking loving dog. Edited December 31, 2018 by Shortstraw 2 Quote Link to post
