Just back from Kenya few pics

Recommended Posts

Hello ,

just back from Kenya with Work , thought I’d attach a few interesting pics I took.

So series of pics 1,

stopped in a harbour area, had mooch around next morning and discovered these tracks ..

seem a little old from the hardened edges.

My initial thoughts were leopard , the lolldiaga area holds a large amount of leopard , around 30 males across a 140 000 acre area , however one landowner mentioned in passing that the main lion pride had recently suffered its alpha male being driven out by 2 younger males.

The older male was apparently going around injured and was expected to be found dead sooner rather than later

I never stated that the claws on  last one were a cat.  They were made by a sole hyena who watched me from a safe distance in the machine operating through the night  very unique animals

Track pattern and proximity to our location

Hello pal ,

just the usual , elephants , zebra, warthog giraffes, loads of deer types, one night I had a lovely camel spider in my kit as I shook it out to go to bed , seen a few puff adders, two black mamba juveniles killed by locals and a lovely big rock python!!!

Kenya not too bad mate

Pretty safe in lodges etc

obviously walking around down town etc wouldn’t be the best idea but in all honestly I think it’s as safe as you can get really

You in the Paras Stiffmeister? My mate has just got back from Kenya too with work.

No I’m not a para mate

I’m not infantry capbadge, so I’m not in 2 or 3 para ,

i am para trained though did p coy straight after training , so In my role as a combat engineer I have worked with the lads from both 3 and 2 para for over a decade.

My role is primarily to support them , I deliver counter mobility, ease of our mobility, demolitions, sme knowledge of combat engineering although I specialise in airfields both temporary and restoration effects

lots of nomenclature there rabbit hunter mate so I’ll answer easier

I blow doors off for the paras to run through lol

i was in mombasa  in the early 70,s    fkn  hell hole ...spent many happy hour up and down the kilindi road ;)  seem to remember  the beer  bieng   tuska   and whitcap  ,,    happy  days,,

I’ve been to Mombasa mate years ago , been to Kenya a few times now with Work so done all the sea fishing, windsurfing stuff etc and Mombasa is the place to do it .

Apparently it’s gone savagely down hill and most tourists do the lodge thing nowadays

yeah the beers are still tusker and white cap. Can’t get away with tusker but a cold white cap on a hot African evening is hard to beat imho

A couple of days later I was working through the night in a machine and had an interested observer , he disappeared before I had a chance to charge my phone but the next morning I took a few snaps
