Greyman 28,054
Back in the day,it was not a question of if your dog would take a deer, it was just getting on land that actually held deer, I,ve always been in Bristol, and today I can walk across the road and find deer in most bits of wasteland but back in the day I would have to be driving down to Salisbury or Yeovil just to see one, a round trip of over a hundred miles usually in a mk1/2 ford escort van that may or may not make the journey without breaking down, then finding somewhere safe to hide the van for the night, then it was running the gauntlet of getting back to Bristol with a van full of deer dogs and lads without getting pulled over by plod, a full 12hr night out might of got you a couple of deer if you were lucky, we never really had deer dogs, just good game dogs that would take one if you were lucky enough to see one, Fox,s on the other hand were everywhere and wearing a £25 fur coat so made a much more attractive proposition, 5 Quote Link to post

Hormones do my old china thought you were a roider with ginger hair ?....in the rut they are a lot more aggressive and prob first week are at peak condition, even after they start losing condition the extra aggression pushes them on , as it goes on come the end they are out on their feet and many a time you can just walk up to them as they don't know what day it is but are in a bad state come the final bell , Quote Link to post
