both my dogs are done, but i did read a story where a dog was taken handed to the police, dog warden, kennels and rehomed and no one botherd to scan for a chip.

Some people do illigal activities and a chipped dog could get them caught :whistling: :whistling: Of course we are all law abiding citizens on this forum

i saw this video on a police program on the tv the other day where some fellas were hare coursing and a helicopter were on them and they were in a 4X4 going across the fields and then got stuck in a big puddle and all legged it leaving the dogs in the boot

if they didnt get caught and the dogs were chipped they would of still got caught when the dogs got scanned

Says a lot about folk that they would leave their dogs behind in the jeep  The last thing I would leave behind is my dog, motor yes, its easy enough to go and buy another one, but a dog is a unique individual animal, and much more difficult to replace, and you would think a decent dog man would have a bond with their dog that they wouldnt abandon it? :hmm: If I had to leg it, the dog would be coming with me no matter what

theres people around who dont really care about there dogs ive been out with boys who are like it my mates dog which he paid £800 for a couple of weeks later it broke its leg when it ran into a fence and he wanted to leave it in the field

some people dont see them as pets and just use them for hunting or money and if offered a bit of money will cash in on them straight away

£15 is a rip off, I do it for £5 which is the cost of the chip, vets and qualified chippers should really be doing all they can to encourage people to have their dogs done by keeping the price as low as possible, I have heard of some vets charging £30 for what is essentially a 30 second procedure, the longest part is filling out the paperwork

Try your local council or dog warden first before you shell out any cash, as some councils run schemes where the dog warden will come to your house and do it for free. I know North Lanarkshire council operates this scheme, I am sure other counties will do it too

THATS VERY GENEROUSE OF YOU SJM, I ALSO USED TO CHIP , I WENT ROUND LURCHER SHOWS DOING IT . I CHARGED £15 BUT MADE NO MONEY AT IT. PEOPLE WERE JUST NOT INTERESTED,

BUT ITS A BUSSINES, SO FOR YOU TO SAY THATS ITS A RIP OFF IS A BIT STRONG , £15 IS FECK ALL, £30 YES THAT MIGHT BE CONCIDERED A RIP OFF BUT NOT £15.

AS FOR CHARGING £5 THE CHIPS COST MORE THAN THAT. IF MY MEMORY SERVES THE CHEAPEST THEY WERE WHEN BOUGHT IN BULK WAS AROUND £5.60.

NOW THERES NOWT WRONG WITH LOOSING A FEW PENCE DOING YOUR MATES DOGS. BUT NOT THE GENRAL PUBLICK.

LIKE A SAY £15 IS FECK ALL, CANT BELIVE YOU THINK ITS A RIP OFF  MIND YOU YOU ARE SCOTS :whistling:
