And on the right ground a decent fox will make half decent lurchers look stupid. Take yourself out with a Half Decent lurcher in the day time on rough ground and see how many they make look slow.

I hunt arable land so yes I run them in the open lol during the day the normally come up out of dykes and make a run across aN open field and the very rarely get out a field even with a good head start you want to try practicing what you preach and get out in the day and run some fox hard though driving fields throwing dogs out motor running 3 handed during the day lol

My old pit/bullmastiff could catch foxes but only in a short sprint or they would pull away.I've been told straight cross whippet/russells struggle to catch decent size foxes but have no experience with the speed of a first cross bull/whippet.I think I'd prefer a 3/4 whippet or run a half cross with a pure.

I like the idea of working terrier/whippet compared to pit blood,the pits and crosses I've owned all had a hatred of foxes and wish to destroy them but I wouldn't call them hunting dogs.I don't think they add any hunt to a running dog,just muscle and hatred for canine type prey and more leg than other terriers but if they do the job I can see why they are popular and useful.

A few.Admitedly Ive seen a lot of cloddy shit too but Ive never seen a single bull/whippet with decent pace.I bred a litter myself years ago and even a couple that topped up at 22" were nowhere near as fast as either of my bull greyhound bitches that were a shade under and a shade ove 23" that were both very good fox bitches and could do double figures on rabbits on flat arable for fun.
