sandymere 8,263
The EU is the biggest market in the world and we have free trade with it at present and via the EU also have free trade deals with 36 non EU countries, walking away from that for some imagined land of old remembered glories is stupid. The world has moved on, little islands no longer rule but get bullied by the big players, the EU is a big player that can stand up to Russia, America and China. Outside we will just be an unregulated sweat shop with no protections for the working man.

In the UK election, political parties pick a person they want to lead them and become Prime Minister. In the EU election, political parties pick a person they want to lead them and become Commission President. In the UK election, the UK citizens votes for their local MP. In the EU election, the EU citizens votes for their local MEP. The UK party with the most seats in the UK parliament gets the first chance to have their leader became Prime Minister and pick Cabinet Ministers. The EU party with the most seats in the EU parliament gets the first chance to have their leader become Commission President and pick Commissioners. longer version... http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/europpblog/2016/06/21/is-the-eu-really-run-by-unelected-bureaucrats/ Edited November 16, 2018 by sandymere

Your thinking is bizarre. What's your opinion about the noises coming from the French and German leaderships regarding the formation of an EU army John?? One more step down the road towards a United States of Europe.. They'd have gone down that route years ago if not for the UK's opposition to it because it would have undermined NATO and balance of power that has kept us all in a relative peace for so long..
