Guest Keeps
We were out again Sunday, a lovely autumn morning Ellie, just back from maternity leave, much to her relief, marking a hole Setting the nets (still got the crappy ones ) patiently waiting for a bolt or two Quote Link to post
Guest Keeps
Loads of nettles round too & guess who got stung Indie had a mad 5 mins run round was a very slow morning, so we decided to move on & found a massive set in the woods The dogs were marking everywhere, didn’t know where to start :11: We didn’t have enough nets either, there were 100’s of holes it was crying out for longnets Quote Link to post
Guest Keeps
we got a few and missed a few :11: but they’ll be there for another day… on the way back we bumped into to this fella, didn’t manage to get my camera out in time for a close up, but he was pretty impressive another morning well spent Quote Link to post

D.C. 34
You got my mouth watering with the woodland shots, it really is the BEST sport to ferret rabbits in woods, if there's anything better I've yet to find it!!!!!!! not everyone's cup of tea i suppose, but I love it .............there must be some canopy cover there keeps, as the undergrowth is very sparse!........Nice, i can't wait for the winter to really hit home so i can get in the woods, at the moment round here i can't even SEE any holes in them, the cover is soooooooooooooooooo thick!! :11: Good fun for the dog in there. Guest Keeps
You're right DC woodland ferreting is my favourite, you can hear the bunnies thumping around underneath you. Yes there was a good canopy, when we were out last week in the woods it was pouring down & we didn't get wet The only downside to the spot we found yesterday was the moat like bog you had to cross to get there you have to be good at longjump :11: which was fun The dogs had a great time, was a bit hairy at times when they were running through the woods though we just need a couple of long nets now Quote Link to post
Guest pan.handle
cracking pics and post again keeps, we'll have some crack on some longnets.... all the best Pan Quote Link to post

Guest Keeps
No JD midges don't bite me :11: Aye we'll have a bit crack about longnets tomorrow night Pan Quote Link to post
Hywel 53
Hi Keeps, I take it from your pics that your terrier is a Plummer? If so, how do you rate them as rabbiting dogs? I'm considering getting a terrier for bushing alongside a lurcher.... Quote Link to post
Guest Keeps
Yes shes a plummer Hywell & she loves rabbiting. I can't fault them as bushing dogs. I've have had JR's all my life (still have one) and I rate plummers way above them. They use their noses well and are excellent dogs at finding game. All my dogs bush alongside lurchers, but the plummers really do excel at it. The one in the pics is a good all round dog, she even goes on a beating line & my sons taught her to check his traps for him, the lazy bugger :11: Quote Link to post
Eggy 0
Great piccies keeps & smudge. My ferret kits are still too young to get 'em started: You making it very difficult for me to hold 'em back seeing all these pics How much longer? they are doing great BTW... Quote Link to post
Guest Keeps
You could always give them a try, though they probably won't do much yet. Glad to hear they are doing OK Quote Link to post
