Guest mush
I run sometime too, if i'm between the rabbit and where its head seems to panic them and less running for the dog or it will bend them back out into the open, don;t do it often just when i think its worth it. Its paid off for me and it works for me so i f it puts the extra rabbit in the bag its worth it At one time I lamped a lot of the time on sand duns, If you also have lamped duns you'll know if you don't run you don't catch anything so now even when lamping fields i still tend to run somtimes as i now it can help . And If you know the land your lamping you will know when you'll need to run, And like you say it puts extra rabbits in the bag. Snoop with short legs like yours I'm not surprised you don't run ;-) LOL Quote Link to post

Irish Lurcher 1,013
Agree with SD on this one, unless the quarry is running over a hill or something, then I stand in the one place, why bark when you have a dog Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Ive seen some rediculous dog /people /rabbit collisions with chaps who get excited and personally i stand still 'til the dog returns .Sounds right daft chasing dogs? Quote Link to post
Guest blue_boy
just a quick taught on styles of lamping most of the lads around where i live including me run with the lamp on the rabbit when we slip the dog. had a couple of lads over from wales hunting and lamping with me an they taught i was mad running with the dog. they just stand in the one spot.whats yer taughts? y.i.s sionnach alright mate i run like a nutter on the lamp i want to see all they action. when my mate comes out he crys when i do it as he likes to stand in one spot like a lamp post and hopes for the rabbits to run at the beam like a moth.handy gets me lamping fit as much as the dogs there is quit a few hills around here and yes my dog is trained well brings back to hand and i dont chase the dog that sounds nuts i just make sure the little fockers dont get out the beam I once also took an irish lad lamping (NOTHING AGAINST IRISH) and before i had let the dog go he was coursing the rabbit around the field before the dog fast little fockers.
