mark williams 7,563
I`ve been buying pellets in bulk order for a few years now, they all arrive, 5000 a time, carrying the same batch number, all made by the same dye/ cast, rather than differing batches. Not sure if any of you lads weigh your pellets, ( i don`t ) but i read a very interesting article about a pretty thorough chap, new to Hunter Field Target disciplines. He weighed all 500 JSB Exacts with a nominal weight of 8.44g. Weight. ( grain ) Quantity. 8.43 24 8.44 222 8.45 236 8.46 32 He took an average rifle of 11.5 ft/lbs and then using the lightest and heaviest pellets found that the lightest pellet at 8.43 g gave a muzzle velocity of 783.9 fps and the heaviest at 8.46 grain gives 782.5 fps, - a difference of just 1.4 fps. The point of impact can only be seen to be different at 12 yds with the heavier pellet hitting .010" lower and at 17 yds.010" higher with all other distances being the same point of impact. They conclude that the weighing of pellets is a complete waste of time. I`ve posted this picture before but can`t stress enough not to fumble your fingers through pellets in a tin, distorting pellet skirts. Carrying the pellets in pouches, or pockets, or tins, fumbling through them/ distorting again. Empty some pellets onto a lightly sprayed, lint free cloth. Load an empty, ink tubeless biro pen and your pellets stay perfect, regardless, every time. Accuracy improves considerably using this simple little method. atb Mark. 7 Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,563
Yes Phill, i prefer to go heart/ lung sideways on, head, neck face on but absolutely no movement before the shot. My GSP is on them instantly if required after command. atb Mark. 1 Quote Link to post
