Danny19 0
I watched a video on YouTube they took down a grey fox with 22 pcp air rifle with a heart shot Quote Link to post
Phill-W68 547
I wouldn't even think about taking that shot with any air-rifle Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Technically if you hit it in the right place it will go down. Should you take the shot? No way. If it ran off injured (which it would more than half the time) you could be letting yourself in for a load of animal cruelty issues. As grey foxes aren't native to the UK, the video probably wasn't taken in this country so the air rifle might have been way over the 12ft/lb limit here. Even then whoever posted it needs a kick up the arse as it's irresponsible and doesn't show the quarry the respect it deserves. Right tool for the right job - and that isn't. Quote Link to post

Just the same, I get enough flack from many saying a .22LR isn't up to the job and you need a centrefire (they don't have a clue though). 2 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
Yes, it will But, your camo has to be very good. ......... You have to rub fox shit on your boots and, sit very still in a bush and make very quiet chicken noises. When the fox comes along, you whack him over the head with the stock end of the rifle. For obvious reasons, you're better off not using a rifle that has a floating barrel. It's actually cheaper than shooting rabbits because you can leave your pellets at home 1 5 Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
Well, a bit of a novelty of a first post, and the answer to an undetailed and vague question has to be NO, to avoid any speculation! 1 Quote Link to post
philpot 4,986
I wouldn't shoot a fox with my FAC .25 pcp running at 47fpe and it would be a perfect story for the anti brigade to get hold of. Stick to small vermin and you will not go wrong. Phil 2 Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
Get an FAC and a nice, well sorted .223 if you want to shoot foxes. But NEVER with any air rifle. Airguns are not for foxes mate. 3 Quote Link to post
