the definition of coursing, is the sport of hunting hares with dogs such as greyhounds, using sight not scent, says nothing about points, just hunting, the point of hunting is to catch what you hunt I believe

Coursing isn't hunting.. tell you what feck it i can't be bothered....?..

They do alright over here.?

Pure salukis were ran against the galagos in there country and beat them on every course bar one, our coursing bred dogs are far better than pure Salukis so I’d say our stock would be in a different l

Here we go ,  cause some one has one , it’s the next secret squirrel best type  like malamutes, gsps, mallnois , gsds, nudge nudge wink wink  if galgos were any good , people would have

Don’t be like that ?  Once upon a time if you got caught tracing or tracking a hare in snow you got strung up nowadays it’s a Facebook norm ?

Sandycrack, have you ever thought of putting a well bred coursing dog over your galgo bitch ? Could be an interesting litter, don’t think it’s ever been done before over here

could take us back years lol, jokeing apart we don't need any random crosses back into the line, using them for crossing with other lurchers works to produce a good all round dog but I think the coursing lines should be protected, as they are.

No yapping, easy to live with, greyhound/sighthound temperament. I have young children so dogs need to be bomb proof. 1300 years ago the moorish invaders occupied Spain and likely brought their saluki types with them, genetics backs this up, these bred with local greyhound types, the ancestors of English greyhound type, and the modern  Galgo is the result.

Not really disagreeing with you here, yes, the moors , from north africa, morocco, libya etc, occupied spain, but it would've been the sloughi, not the saluki, that they took with them.  And it's the sloughi , more than, the saluki that is mainly responsible in the creation of the galgo

You don't see many galgos hold a hare up or dictate the hares movement,  even after 3 minutes . Think that answers it

Yas right and what sandy has to remember our hounds had the infusion of our traditional cur mongrell jukel added this his where there nouse came from when running mr long ear a marriage of two very different types that nicked . Those Spanish missed out on this very important ingredient.atb bill
