Any dog can turn no matter how good it is with kids and it’s bad news when it does

Yep they can ,from what I see the dog was like my lurchers "good with family, friends " wary of others.

my nan had what she called pudding terriers and they little fu@kers for biting for nothing to point they was spiteful c@nts

they would sit and beg to b scratched and sink there teeth in to the hand unless it was my nans.

Feck feeding another dog , just put up a couple of Isis flags .. got the police watching my house 24/7 now ?

I married a Northern lass good with kids bit agressive around house & can cook. No one visits anymore. Atb

If you want a yard dog and something to guard your kennels i personally dont think you can beat a well bred bandog type.Naturally territorial, generally not dog aggressive if properly socialised, physic

A bloke I recall had a Jack Russell cocker x and burglars actually put the dog in a chest freezer. Straight up that as well.

Anyone had much experience with English bull terriers as they seem to be popular in South Africa

My Mrs had a ebt when I first met her that b*****d hated men and would bite you  I have no doubts about that  it was very protective over her and the house it's son was exactly the same nasty egg headed cnut made good ratters though ?  I know a lad who had one he had its head mounted after armed police shot it after it turned on him

There is a recent craze with boerbels having accidental deaths in South Africa .

The dogs are f***ing monstrosities and are becoming more and more popular in the recent swell of middle class South Africans

the dogs are that fat and unathletic they drown on the regular in South Africa .

What the f**k would anyone want with a dog like that in our little island ??

I can understand their use around farm houses in SA but not many other places. They are way overkill for home security,I've heard the athletic ones were used to hunt giraffe and even elephants, might be bullshit ,not sure.

My best friend in the world is a South African boer.

He comes from farming stock , his father was a para bat , a p h and is now involved in conservation.

He and his family have had boerbels for decades. You have to have a common sense approach with animals like that and the way he talks about them is with That detached South African manner.

That they are  a dog to be kept on a porch outside , to watch family life and be a sentinel type ready to come into work rather than a daily worker like a herder or a gun dog

he finds the idea of people who’d want one in a tiny house like what we have in the uk mind boggling

in South Africa , the weather allows a lot of suburbanites to have large pools in the garden . There is a plethora of these dogs drowning as they cannot get them selves out of a pool without a wading bowl entrance

madness why any one would want these in the uk

I used to talk to a lad who run a reptile rescue in Africa ,he said he lost count how many times owners of African mastiffs call him to get rock monitors off dogs neck and nose as they have jaws like clamps ,

Mad that eh? You'd think a girraffe killing, elephant wrangling breed of dog would have no problem dealing with a big lizard ?

If they are anything like the goannas here I don't doubt it.I had one get stuck in my house yard 2 weeks ago,big yard 2acres and couldn't get out as it's jack Russell proof. It climbed into the chicken pen,I chased it out and my terrier grabbed the tail as it climbed a tree,it clung to a bow about ten foot up with the parson hanging on for a couple of mins before falling.Crazy big lizard around 5ft and crazier dog.

now i am only going on the bloke i know, who got this boerbol bitch, now like say, it big fooker 55 kg , real good guard vocal, and i reckon bite you if you was on your own. But the thing really puts me off big breeds like this, is that alot are  fooked at  5 - 7 year old, his bitch hat knew knee cap op = £ 2 grand , it need the other doing at latter date , she only bloody 4 year old now . it was the main reason i left bullmastiffs , because of the health probs  HD ,elbow  pob, and not long lived 8-9 your done lucky, ok the boerbol prob more healthy than bullmastiffs,  masttiffs   but i was told by 2 differnt vets, any dog over 100lb , your going to get health probs . i reckon  the bandog    bulldog x neo   or bulldog x cane corso , hybrid mastiff, got  be best  big breed guard dog out there. i f wanted a guard dog i look there , or  old type Alsatian  fit.healthy  line from working lines .

I think you're right there mate. Not just bull or mastiff types either. Look at many lines of gsd for example, and of course, some of the larger sighthound breeds, wolfhounds, deerhounds etc. Far far too big and unsound. Terrible really, when all the above breeds were originally bred for work and agility, as well as strength ?
