Its called a domination collar.Its almost like a kind of chocker thats used during training to get the attention or break bad habits with a very strong willed dog.First time i saw one I thought what the f**k is that gunna do but used correctly they really do work.

yeh suppose a powerful dog like that , and how sharp  he with people  come in very handy . just come back of my 1st walk today , and met a couple with gsd xcolliex lab , guy said  got it off a farm . it looked like big lab, nice temp with people and dogs , just like my big dog Buck.  told the guy he daft big lump, wouldn't guard etc. he told me that his mrs was walking it the other night , and a pissed up bloke was following her , and went to talk to her, the dog started to growl and stiffen up, the bloke moved back, his mrs said i really think he  would have had him if  came any closer  to me . bloke said to me you never know your big dog might shock you one day , he still 1/2 gsd  and strong fit animal  and 85 lb dog would  hurt you deff , maybe but i dont think so unless, you had long bushy tail  he might then  haha  .

I wouldn't doubt your dog protecting you bird,my pure grey was a good guard and would bite,and he was raised as a hunter.

no meant there's loads that aren't safe, its their job.

I don't have anything to guard and obviously think it would be terrible if the wrong person got hurt, but also wouldn't be to happy if the dog didn't try and keep ALL out
