Mr Wilkes 3,035
I’ve used the “Black” scout for a few years now and come winter time I’ve found it increasingly difficult to sight anything in come late afternoon/dusk. My failing eye sight doesn’t help either. So I thought I’d try a tritium lamp/vile/tube.. wow what a difference it makes. The walks in the woods should produce a dinner or two this autumn/winter
jok 3,301
Bit different from my old Milbro ffs. Jok.
Chaff 3,622
What's the black band like Mr Wilkes ? I use the gold stuff which doesn't seem to last very long before it perishes. Have you ever tried shooting fast and not aiming if that makes sense ?
Mr Wilkes 3,035
They are black latex from simple-shot , I like them but they don’t like the cold. Yeah I used to “instinctive aim” with my previous cattys but this scout is so easy I prefer to aim now .
Chaff 3,622
Like the way the band mounts much easier I would imagine than wipping round with elastic.
Mr Wilkes 3,035
I used to wrap n tuck but when it rained I’d pull out a band because it was wet, with these scouts I don’t have to carry 3 cattys just in case it rains.
lee 99
Iv got a snide scout. How did you do that
Mr Wilkes 3,035
The ones from China ?. I drilled a hole slightly wider and deeper than the light then put in a little gorilla glue , waited 10mins then pushed in the light just bellow the frame and when it had hardened I put a blob of clear nail varnish over to seal it . How you find the postage cost from simpleshot? I had a scout from there a few years back ( now sadly lost ), and postage was reasonable, but I had a look on their site recently and for some reason the postage was very expensive......must have been a fault with the site as it was nearly as expensive as a catapult. Mr Wilkes 3,035
If I remember correctly the postage wasn’t too bad but the uk postage handling was a extra £16
Shortstraw 476
I got away with handling charges when I ordered from them.........unusual as I usually get collared for things like that. Edited October 8, 2018 by Shortstraw
leegreen 2,182
Off topic slightly, can you put double bands on that frame? Nice idea by the way.
