talt 878
I often think to myself if a super bright lamp is really needed. Back in the day i have had many a good night with the good old Halfords handheld spotlight and they were not a patch on the specialised lamps on the market now. Mind you, back in the day my feckin eyesight was a lot better as well. 3 2 Quote Link to post
Attaboy 159
I'm using a ryobi led spotlight that runs on the same batteries as my power tools. It's very bright and long beam. I've yet to compare it to a normal hunting lamp but it works well for me. Quote Link to post
Guest vin
Deben Tracer 210 Variable. . . 12V halogen bulb that can be changed to larger or smaller wattage etc. It's a bit bigger but its perfect for all occasions. Quote Link to post
Scafflad1 138
Might give one a go could a higher watage bulb be put in the 170 VP Quote Link to post
jiggy 3,209
I always found that the stronger the lamp it only spooked game especially foxes. Variable power is a gift on lamp shy stuff and I find the tracer 170 plenty strong enough with 22 amp lithium battery. Quote Link to post
two crows 3,342
I haven't lamped with a dog for years, but am going to give it a go this year, I have a light force 170 halogen on the roof, and my mate bought a cluson led about same size and I find identifying stuff at distance better with that, but as been said I think it spooks foxes more, a brighter more powerfull lamp is not the answer you are often moveing stuff off the next field. The first one was a bit narrow and I had a hell of a job keeping it on the bunny at range. When the dog came back and started beating me with a white stick I new I needed the next model up 1 Quote Link to post
Scafflad1 138
I've had it a few times now we're the dog has lost the quarry due to the lamp not going the distance in big feilds don't want it to be super bright lads that's another bonus to halogen bulbs just same spot with a longer distance would highering the wattage of the bulb get more distance or would it be the same just brighter I only have the 4 amp lithium at the min will be getting the 22 soon enuff what's the lamps like of dloyd on here Quote Link to post
terryd 8,502
Had a couple of lamps off dlloyd the DL 100 which is bright and wide maybe too wide and the plr500 which I found narrow. Went to grab the 100 this week and the light was all yellow after a couple of years so grabbed the 500. Lost a couple of rabbits because I couldn't keep the light on them and the poor old dog couldn't get up to speed and was bouncing around trying to see them. Bit like aiming a bloody lase at a moving object. Most of that is my eyes mind. Out last night with the old Tracer 140 and me sealed bike battery nice old orange light and could see every thing no prob. I have messaged lloyd to see what he has. Will have a think Quote Link to post

Very f***ing bright at full pelt! It is a little bit whiter than the standard halogen, but nothing like the led lamps, which I don’t like. I like the setup tbh. I rock a 10amp battery which is perfect for my needs. I keep the bulb down to 30% ish and the eyes shine lovely. The bulbs are only £5 or £6, worth a try before shelling out on a blitz or something. 1 Quote Link to post
