Well, had a few joints now and the flavour is something else, am really pleased with them. also knocked a few sausages up yesterday, these ones were chilli and garlic, possibly the best sausage I

Those mengilitza things.hungarian pigs.seen more and more of those over the last 2 years but they never seem to finish any good.

How old are they.?

Those two are about 8 months old.

Never tried them before but had a few folk ask about them, in what way do they never finish any good, weight or meat or ? Pigs are all a learning curve so interested to hear everyones thoughts, especially as you've had dealings with them.

I did think the slaughterhouse may grumble about the hair ?

Sure I read they can get a bit fatty if allowed to ? Be interested to see how they turn out, certainly odd looking ,seen some at a Rare breed pace .

I think all these older pure breds can lay the fat on heavy if your not careful. Sure will be interesting to see what they turn out like, nothing like any other pig I've worked with, you can see the wild traits in them, certainly the least sociable pigs I've ever known.

I don't think they ever have a good shape.shoulders and legs are flat and there usually fat but then its only amateur/hobby farmers that keep them.the meat would be good i'm sure.you don't know til you try.rare breeds that finish well i thought were o.s.b,duroc,saddlebacks and g.o.s

As for the hair the ones we done always came out good.those, tamworths and iron age are the best pigs for that even the boar's but they don't finish well either.g.o.s are the worse for hair removal.f**k knows why.

Thanks, I can see your point about shape, they are nowt like a regular pig, totally different shape.

Ive got a g.o.s sow and she is really wirey, hairs are like thorns.
