WhiteRabbit 112
Hey all, Unfortunately I've been out of the game for a while whilst focussing on health and family. I've finally got the time back now to really get back out there again and get behind my air rifle for some plinking sessions before I get back into permissions. A few questions really, I've had my BSA XL Tact's (.22 & .25) out of service for a while and wondered if there's anything I should consider checking out before taking them out? I'm pretty sure they've not been cocked whilst out of use but new internals? Nikko Sterling Scopes- anything to consider with them? I may also be looking to treat myself to a new rifle too, to get really stuck back into it and enjoy it after all this time. I remember when I was last out i was looking at the AA TX200HC and Weirauch 98/97KT, has there been anything new out since to check out before spending out? Any help is much appreciated and it's good to be back on here with you all. Grae 1 Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,780
As long as they have not been left cocked they should be good to go if out they may need a de,grease and re,grease that should be about it best thing is to give them both a little plinking sesh and listen to how they perform if they twang then a greasing you will go lol and as for a new rifle you cant go wrong with ether of the ones you have mentioned but the 98 is more a target rifle but just as good out in the field . A 97 if bought new will need a de,grease and re,grease to be made better plus a polish of the internals or a tuning kit fitted but ince you have had this done boy will you have a rifle second to none . tx200hc out of the box none can match it bar one the AA,pro sport both have the same internals and both good to go out of the box just fit the scopes put the pellets in your pocket and go Pro sport has the edge for me no bear trap to fiddle on with just go to your rfd and have a look at them see what suits you or even better get to your local shooting range some one will be there with said rifles and most will let you have a go of them this way you get to shoot them AND that will help you make your mind up which one to go for . hope this helps you out atvbmac 1 1 Quote Link to post
WhiteRabbit 112
@bigmac 97kt I just checked the AA site to mainly check out the Pro Sport, seems a nice rifle and how would you say it differs compared to the TX and the 97KT for practicality hunting? I also noticed the TX200 is now a MK3, pretty sure the MK2 was the last model back when': how is the MK3 any better? Thanking you for all the help, hopefully out this weekend coming for a good plinking down the range and see how things perform. Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,550
Welcome back to the forum Grae , Ditto to every word Jimmy, Big Mac has said. I shoot with a Pro Sport, TX 200 HC MK3, HW 97K, all .177 cal. The Pro Sport is the only one that`s untouched and boy has that rifle took some vermin. The only difference between any of these rifles, ( for me), is personal preference. atb Mark. 1 Quote Link to post

VERY VERY POINTABLE EVEN MORE SO THAN A 97 NO WAIT AT THE BARREL END as the under leaver tucks under the stock much like the air sporter this helps with the point ability of the rifle and no barrel flip when fired the wait of the rifle is perfection (to me any way) and no bear trap like the tx has so its just cock and load im not taking any thing away from the tx mind it in its self is a hell of a rifle but i dont like them but thats just my preference as with the tx you can get some nice walnut stocks on these rifles and ether cal is good . i took that many crows with mine the lads nick named it the crow sport iv shot the rifle vizlauk has and its an out standing rifle and very nice its just like the day it came out of the factory brand new you would not go wrong in pm.ing him and sorting a deal out Just ask mark he would not look at them until he took notice of me and as for the 97 well as he say,d what a rifle but in my eyes the pro sport just caps it just . here are some of thee ones iv had and my blue baby atvbjimmy ps the pro sport in the pick with the blue 97 is the one that viz is selling and the last three pics of the stock Quote Link to post

Jonjon79 13,358
Welcome back Grae. I had a 20yr break from shooting for career, money and fanny - not necessarily in that order I'd take those rifles out for a good target shooting session first of all - that should give you a pretty good idea of what they're up to. Regarding getting a springer - no cabinet is complete without one mate Atb 1 Quote Link to post

Now this Man has a HW80 fac ,,hw97ks (now mark williams) hw77 but his pro sport is now his baby just loves it to bits and that from a weihrauch fan and a big fan at that atvbjimmy Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,550
I`ve only ever owned one Pro Sport. I can`t see myself owning another as the one i have now is " going nowhere" . She is untouched and here is her accuracy. Lovely rifles Grea but do try your other options first mate. Good luck ! 1 Quote Link to post
