THE STIFFMEISTER 15,947 Posted July 24, 2018 Report Share Posted July 24, 2018 Well done David i genuinely hate that this country relys in foreign tourism when in reality , we should be cutting around here all summer when my boy is bigger I’ll be taking Him around in a van the length and breadth of this country every summer I toy with the idea of New Zealand now and again, but in reality I don’t think I could ever leave here I wear this flag everyday to work , I can’t imagine having another’s next to my skin ps like how the 30 had pen y fan on there , they want to get up there in blistering rain and wind on a winters day with a foot of cloud in front of you worst place in the world !! 5 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I think I'll have to visit Skye next time I'm north of the wall and the channel islands have never really appealed to me but I think it's somewhere I need to go now, maybe just 3-5 days. Lulworth Cove, Dorset, looks a little treasure too. That one was one of the other 27, but I didn't know about it before now. It's cool looking at stuff like this. You can see how Game of Thrones drew a lot of inspiration from our islands. And how f***ing lucky are we to have such wild lands as the highlands and in contrast the almost tropical-esque south west coast and channel islands all a short day's travel away. We have family in Guernsey, I love the place...some of the best kayak fishing I've ever had.. We stayed on Sark and kayaked around the island, beautiful place, a pod of dolphins topped off the experience...it was the first time my wife had been o a kayak since she sat on a beach in Lyme Regis waiting for her turn to enter the water, she was 17.. it soon became apparent the first group of her friends from her 6 form had got into serious trouble, she lost 4 good friends that day, it is still the worst single kayak incident in this country. I kayak with a good lad off of here, who is an instructor, the instructors course has been modelled around that incident.. It was brave of my wife to get on the kayak, and be out with me and the 3 kids, in the end she loved it... The scenery, and caves we entered were fantastic...I'd highly recommend anybody to visit Sark, camp there and enjoy a place where time has stood still..no cars, a few tractors and horse and carts or bikes get you round the island...bliss Edited July 24, 2018 by NEWKID 5 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Thanks for sharing your view on Sark though, noted. I've got friends that have spent a lot of time at Jersey, they speak highly of the place. A short visit would probably be quite refreshing for me personally. Oddly, I'd quite like to visit all of the British territories. The one 8,479 Posted July 24, 2018 Report Share Posted July 24, 2018 Just back from Skye and its a wonderful place but as ive always said if you get the weather in Scotland you cant beat the scenery and all the time we where there it was over 25 degrees and all the views were not capitalized on there was just car parking on each side of the road and folk walking to the views out of the 21 listed there was only a wee shed etc at 3 of them and a little lady with a kettle and Tesco instant coffee saying wait till the kettle boils LOL Quote Link to post Share on other sites
