How long do pups howl?

I let my pup sleep in his crate in my bedroom for the first couple of weeks before he got moved to the kitchen it settled him quite well as he knew where we were at night so didn’t whine after the first night

Don't tell whoppers you had him in the bed

Sounds like alot going on in your house, without much regularity to it. Ie, you going to work at different times, for different lengths of time. And getting up at 3 am aint going to help you either. Y

You tried a radio on when you leave it? Or old alarm clock ticking away in its bed?

Don’t over complicate things  In the house  i don’t let a pup free in the house until he’s able to contrast between inside rest : outside play , it’s a habit that’s get created by you  habit

I think he’s just getting big enough to be left most of the night mate as he is holding it quite well atm so will start to reduce getting up so early.

Considering getting my old spaniel from my mums and leaving her with him for a few weeks so he has some company to settle him down.

I wouldn't put another dog in wi him it will stop it but when you tek the other dog away it your be back to howling again I got 1 if left on it's own starts it and she 6 luckily I keep a few

Buckets of water work a treat with older dogs barking in a back gardens but not for an 11 week old pup. Pup is fine - bit of howling at that age when left alone is normal. Just go with it but done make a big deal out of leaving or coming back.

And at night no hugging the dog, just stick it out, wait to it goes to the toilet and put it back in its bed. Don't even look at it. It’s not play time. I’d try to stop the night toileting soon. Its got to understand that if it dumps in its bed its sleeping in with it till morning. Part of the way a crate works is that it is the dogs zone and dogs don’t like dumping in their sleeping zone.

I’d make sure it spends some time in the crate with you doing things in the room. Knacker it out first but put it in the crate awake. Get everybody in the house to do the same. Its got to know sometimes its got to be happy on its own.
