The cattle dog can make a good cross. They are bright and very loyal. They can be protective, which I think is a good thing if within sensible limits.

Mine has a high prey drive but is very biddable and willing to please.

Be firm and consistent when training it and constantly expose it to new people and situations, more so than with most breeds.
